Nerf Bars DIY Install??

Hey Guys,

Quick question. I plan on ordering a set of Westin CPS nerf bars for my 03 Screw tomorrow. My local 4x4 shop does not do installs. They tell me there is no drilling required and that I should be able to perform the install myself.

Just wondering if it's true, and if any of you guys have installed your own nerf bars? How difficult is it? I would appreicate any thoughts/comments.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Well - I didn't install my own bars, but watched the guy do it and it looked easy enough. It was a no-drill installation. The brackets mounted to existing holes in the body, and then the bars attached to the brackets.

The install wasn't to bad... make sure you really study the brackets though. There are slight differences between the front and the back. If I remember correctly it took me all of an hour. Good luck!

Thanks. Do you have the Westin's? I've also heard some good things about Manik nerf bars. Thoughts anyone?

Thumbs up

I put my Westins on in about 30 minutes. kkirt1 is right though, you need to check the brackets carefully or you can put them on backwards. I.E. the left brackets on the right side, front one in the back. I started to and realized what was wrong before getting too far. But if you know how to turn the wrench, you can install them. Wife really likes haveing them. Good luck!

Cheleri,

Thanks for the info. I like the Westin's but the Manik's look pretty nice too. I was a bit concerned on the Westin's after reading one post awhile back about getting the wrong bars repeatedly! Hopefully I will not run into the same snag.

Thanks for the input.

Jim

P.S. Gotta make a decision... Westin or Manik.... LOL

I have Westins, but really liked the looks of the Maniks as well. However, I found a good deal on my Westins locally, so went that route instead of the Maniks.

I like Manik--just b/c they go wheel to wheel. That is reason people either like em or hate em.

Both are good. I prefer the appearance of the Maniks.

I vote for the westins.....

The install was really easy. Three bolts on the brackets and one into the bar....per end of bar.

I got the right ones first time. And they look good. You'll probably be happy either way. I just wanted the CPS series to avoid a possible rust problem.

Got Em On!

Well, installed my new Westin CPS nerf bars today! Install was pretty easy (directions sucked) but what else is new. I will post some pics when I get a chance.
