Any of you guys dissapointed in the way the so called "premium" sound system acutally sounds?? Mine sucks a$$. If I have the windows down you can forget about listening to the radio. The CD player is not near as bad as the radio. You really have to crank it up to hear it good. My '97 regular cab sounded alot better. Wonder if it's because there's just so much room to fill but no change in the radio?? I have an '02 FWIW.

 

Yes it does suck, but you can dramatically improve it with some speaker upgrades. Also when you do decide to do this, get some speakers with a high sensitivity rating (meaning louder with less power) also at least in the fronts get the "bass killers" that will act as passive crossovers cutting excess bass from the speakers getting rid of most of the distortion caused from high volume. If you leave it off the back ones you will get a bit more bass from then and you don't hear those speakers directly so it won't sound that bad.

When you get the bass killers get them around 120hz. Remember the amp in the stock radio isn't that great but if you just want some decent sound and not a rock concert it will work fine, plus no one steal stock radios. NO ONE!

When I had a rather elaborate system in my last truck, it was broken into the first 2 weeks I had the stereo in there.
