I Did It!!!

For those who have followed the saga, fence riding, questions, and multiple posts here is what I did on Saturday. I went to check out the used KR I had mentioned in previous posts. 2002 model with 7000 miles, rear captain chairs, bug shield, flowmaster exhaust, and Ford chip for better HP. Previous owner traded in for a 4x4. I met the salesman in the showroom and he walked me out to the truck. A few scratches in the bed and a few on the plastic cladding on the bed rails. The salesman says he has to drive it off the lot so I jump in the passenger side. I open the door and nearly lost my lunch. Previous owner was a smoker! No offense to those of you who chose to smoke, but I don't and my wife has severe allergies. I almost didn't make it through the test drive. The salesman tells me he has something that he can spray in the truck to get rid of the odor. I tell him something like, "That would be good." The whole time I'm thinking, that smoke isn't coming out of the leather or the carpet.

So, not to make a big deal of it, I tell him that my heart is really set on the rear bench seat (which it is) and I'm not the right customer for this truck. We look at some other Lariats on his lot as he has no new KR models, and I depart without new ride.

So, when I said "I did it," I just took a test drive.

GOTCHA!

Still in my Sport Trac. Will let you know if that changes.

Until then, I'll keep enjoying the board!

Marc

Man I don't blame you, that smell will never come out. I have been in apartments/houses/cars where people who smoke live and it just dosen't go away. I wouldn't touch that truck. Personally if I was a dealer I would pay a lot less for the truck just because of that. I would think of it as a sellability problem.

I had a friend in my truck who smoked and he had a few cigs with his head out the window all the windows down and I could smell it for 2 weeks! Gone now but I will never allow that again.

Keep searching for the right SCREW for you. You'll find it. You did the right thing passing on the rolling ashtray!

This is why I drive a pickup truck. Anybody wants to smoke sits in the back, as in the bed of the truck!

Oh yeah, none of this last drag and jumping in the truck either. They don't get in until I don't see any smoke coming out their various orifices.

Okay Marc,

You had me going there for a minute. I don't blame you for not buying that smoker's ride. I wouldn't do it either. Good move keeping your existing ride until your ultimate deal comes along.

Marc,

I took that hook, line, and sinker....

My first thought, 'thank god, he finally did it...'. Second thought after reading this, 'Damn, I'm probably going to have to write a few more novels...'.

LMAO!

I have to agree with the 'no go' on the buy. I've have ALOT of problem moving on something that I wasn't 110% sure about and, the truck smell would've definately made me hold off. Good move if you ask me.

There will be another one... watch them closely. You're truck will appear.

Take care man and let us know if we can help.

Hey Marc,

Just saw a commercial for 0% financing or 2,500 cash back on all 2002 F-150s.

Screwfun,

Yeah, I heard the same thing on the radio yesterday. Only problem is, they put the Super Crew in a seperate category! 0% doesn't apply.

As soon as 0% hits the SC, I'm on a new truck like a hobo on a hot ham sandwich!

Rock,

I want to thank you for one of the best laughs I have had in a while! I literally had to wipe the tears from the corners of my eyes. I was rolling! As you often say, "LMAO!" At least you were man enough to admit I "GOTCHA."

Yeah, true... they are running that deal but, read the very fine print at the bottom of the screen. .. . "SUPERCREW EXCLUDED".

Sucks doesn't it?

Marc... glad I could make ya laugh. You'll get my bill in the mail for my initial consultation, consulting, humor, and most of all... wit.

One one hand (those looking to buy a Screw) yeah, it sucks, on the other hand (those with a Screw), it doesn't... just keeps the value up....

Ascii,

I have x-plan access, but the Super Crew doesn't have 0% available right now. Current incentives end 9/3. What will they do after that remains the million dollar ??

Okay Marc,

I think I'm going to have to follow RP lead here with a novel.. that was a diryt lousy underhanded mean trick you played on us. But it was funny Okay, you gotcha'd me... just watch out now, there will be a lot of people lying in wait for you now.

No really, Marc, all in good fun and enjoyed the laugh. I wouldn't have bought that 4 wheeled ash tray either. Your deal will come. Good things come to those that wait and what comes around goes around

Cheleri,

Don't tease me know! I can't wait!

In the meantime, enjoy the site!

I always enjoy a good laugh and the timing for this one couldn't have been more appropriate. I have tormented many of the members for the last few weeks to the point some were becoming grouchy! I have been overly focused on buying my SC and it was time to leave the serious mode and have a laugh.

More where that came from!

Marc
