Chevy announces 0% on ALL 2002 Trucks & SUV's. Will Ford do the same

That's right, just saw the commercial on TV. It may be a regional thing, but Chevy is promoting 2500 cash back or 0%APR on all 2002 models. Will Ford follow?

Most likley they will, Ford will do everything they can to continue to outsell Chevy on the trucks, or anything else for that matter. Now Ford may not do this on the 2003 just the 2002s to clear them out. I would say this is a good time to get a new truck. For is hurting though with the last round of low intrest etc. So we will see....

Yep,.. confirmed, got a flyer from ford today offering 0% financing and a bonus you can definitly use on 2002 f-150.
Didn't say what the bonus is.
Flyer says must take delivery from dealers stock by 9/3/02

Sorry guys!! I stand corrected. Chevy is offering 0% for 36 months and 2.9 for 60 months on their Silverado (their match to the F-150). However, they are offering 0% on Blazer, Tahoe, and the Crapalanche for 60 months.

I thought they were offering 0% for 60 months on the truck line. Sorry!

The Chevy Avalanche seems like a nice truck. 0% for 5 years makes it even more attractive.

That's a gutsy statement to make on this on this site. I'm really surprised at the lack of response. While many of us Ford folks like the concept and feel the Avalanche has some nice features, I think most of us dislike the styling and extreme use of exterior plastic (IMHO of course). Across the board, you have to give GM their due. Their new offerings in the truck and SUV lines are selling very well, and there is more to come in 2003. According to Pickuptruck.com sales statistics Ford is about 100K trucks ahead of Chevy through July, AND in July Chevy sold more than 2001 but Ford sold fewer than in 2001. I have forgotten who is #3, but I think they are well behind Ford and Chevy. I continue to see an ever increasing number of SCREWS on the road. I have recently noticed I'm seeing more Avalanches too (probably due to 0%). This makes it clear to me that the "full size standard duty crew cab" (originated by Ford) is a winner for all. I know I love my SCREW! GM is in the hunt, however. Overall this will probably benefit all of us with more and better features being offered by both (all?) truck manufacturers.

Avalanche's liberal use of tough durable plastics make it the first dishwasher safe car in history. You can't knock that.

Payments for 60 months on an Avananche? Can you imagine what the plastic panels are gonna look like by then? Are they made from recycled plastic...like those plastic grocery bags? Hopefully the styling will be recycled by the time it's paid-off.

Oh God BroncoDave... You've Started the Avalanche Debate Again...

BD, BD, BD...

tisk tisk tisk. A King Ranch owner giving kudos to the 'first dishwasher safe truck' in America. We're holding an emergency vote in the King Ranch forum to have your truck impounded and make you drive a GEO METRO for the next 4.5 years.... HAHA!

Nah, to all their own. Everyone has an opinion and they're entitled to it. That's what makes this land great; but, posting it on the F150 board.... whew... that was bold.

Personally, I agree with 90% of the general public on this one... WAY TOO MUCH PLASTIC.

I wish I could give credit to whoever said it but, I was cruising through an Avalanche post on one of the F150 boards within the recent months and a statement was made with something to the effect of:

"...I shudder to think of how many rubbermaid trash cans gave their lives in the manufacturing of only one Avalanche..."

That line still cracks me up to this day....

0% is awesome... free money is awesome but, even if it is free... it's a CHEVY!

Alot of other people must of thought the same thing about the plastic. The 2003 Avalanche has an option for "no cladding".

I thought this might get a response. The first Avalanche I saw was a display at the county fair last year, and I thought that it was a neat gimmick truck. The interior is OK, but the crazy angles and shopping cart fighter panels really gives a distinctly nasty look. Doesn't look so good w/o the panels either.
Give credit to GM though. You have to have some 'nads to market a truck as ugly as this.

I like the "dishwasher safe comment"!!

As Doug said, the '03 has an option for no body cladding....
That may make the truck more attractive...
Not to start a flame or anything but the 'concept' was pretty good. T

The Cadillac version of the Avalanche is much nicer and is most likely what the Avalanche is going towards.

I won't post the pic as that would be blasphemy, so I will just post the link

I still love my SCREW and am hoping that Ford kicks it into high gear and kicks GM's assssssss!
