Denver area - tons of Screws and they are all 4x4. I have yet to see a 2wd. Still see more Scabs than Screws tho, they have a 4 year head start...

All is good in my neighborhood. No other SCREWS to report. And even better, no other KING RANCH EDITIONS either. That's what would **** me off.... someone else getting a KRANCH!

I heard the neighborhood cats meowing the other day though... something about trying to get a 'hog'.... strange.

There are two other people at my work that have Screws. I see maybe one or two driving to/from work every day. However, I am the only one in my neighborhood with a Screw!!!

I had the only Screw in my neighborhood until 2 weeks ago . It is white with the same Snugtop as mine . First time I saw it, I thought mine was just stolen because I was riding in my wife's car. I made her turn around and chase it . When we caught up with it , it still had the Snugtop decals on it and mine doesn't. Whew I was relieved . Oh yeah today is my 2 year anniversary for owning my truck . 34,531 miles and not a problem yet .

Well I thought it was only me that realized that there are a lot of SCrews rolling around. Down here in the south I think the favorite color is White though. Guess thats why I went with Harvest Gold. Now that is a color that I don't see much of. Every time I do see one I automatically know that it's a Gen I. It's nice to be the center of attention at a stop light. I just hope I don't have a wreck looking around to see who's looking at me.

Here in Louisville there are two Ford assembly plants, so there are TONS of SCrews running the roads.
I've tried to make mine look a little unique so it wouldn't just blend in. I still don't have the toneau cover, but I'm just about done with everything else!

I have only ever seen one other, (bought the trucks 10 months ago) and that belongs to my boss. You will probably appreciate that for the UK, the S'crew is a very big, and very unusual vehicle, and people just stare at it for ages. Every time I park, people come up to me and say " what the ******* is that" They may become a little more popular now as a well known soccer player has just bought a Harley version, but the last 10 months have been a real hoot.

PS. Oh yeah, I had better mention that other drivers are completely taken aback by the way this truck moves. No doubt this is also true of any of the V8 petrol engined trucks from Ford Dodge, etc, but over here, pick-ups are thought to be heavy old nails with 2.5L Diesel engines, and the acceleration always takes other drivers completely by surprise...... great fun!!!

I am sorry this is so off topic but I am so curious, I have to ask....

Hughie:

A. What are you paying for petrol (gas)?
B. What is the reason that you have the truck? I asked this of F-150 Europe as well because he's paying over $4.00 a gallon for his petrol.
C. What's the price and sales tax on an F-150 in the UK?
D. In case you watch the show, I was watching Homefront in the Garden on BBC America and Dairmud Gavin was driving a truck that looked like a four door Ranger. Do they have those in Europe? I have not seen them in the US. We only have the Explorer Sport Trac.

a) Eqiuvalent to $4.06/US gallon
b) Its a company vehicle, but as trucks are classed as vans, there is less income tax to pay by the user. I have to pay $300 per year,
but if I still had my BMW, I would be paying $645 per month. Our government is trying to solve the traffic problem by forcing people to 'downsize', or stop using cars, particularly company cars. The vast majority of new cars with 2 litre plus engines are company purchased. There are smaller trucks available in the UK, but they suck. I had better mention that my company pays for the gas as well.
c) We paid £64.000 for two, but as they are a 'van', we get all the purchase tax back, so the net cost was £27.000 each. I think that this is about $40.000. All vehicles are very expensive here!
d) Yes, the 4 door Ranger is available here.
Regards,
Hughie

Thanks for responding to my questions. I am always curious about European truck owners because of the expenses that you have. Also, one of the memories I have of my time in England is the small cars. Really really small cars.

I will have to email Ford and find out why the four door Ranger is not offered in the US.

Lg.

Hughie, don't you have a hard time driving around the UK on those narrow streets. I'm sure there are just some places you can't go.

I remember when my German cousin first saw my truck and said why do you Americans drive such big a$$ trucks!!!

Then I let him drive it Needless to say he loved the big truck feeling and the sound of the exaust.

Our streets are not really prohibitively narrow. There is nowhere that I need to go that the truck will not fit, although I have been 'touched' twice by drivers coming the other way, who were not concentrating, or going too quickly. One was an American built motor hom with mirrors standing two feet off the doors, the other was a learner driver who creased my wheel arch with his door mirror. These however were careless drivers who had part of their vehicle on my side of the road. Just one of those things that I will have to put up with.

Just got back from a two week trip to Houston. That town is crawling with SCrews. Saw a lot of them on the road between Cincinnati and Houston, but not as many around here. I was really surprised how many I saw! Saw very few Crapalanches though. Good thing...my eyes water when I see one.

Cool Something in the water....

I figured it was a matter of time that Screw's would be all over the road. Prior to buying, I checked into the evaluation at edmunds and the down side to buying one was"everybody's got one" F150's that is to be specific. When that's the only bad thing about the truck, how can you go wrong with a four door?

I've seen my Screw's twin, even had the Jason Dimension lid, running around Jonesboro parked at a body shop. I think the guy changed over to a ARE lid and the only difference is he must be a Cardinal fan..........sticker in the window. I think he's confused, this is Braves country!

Adios,

Chuck
