2001+ Supercrews

Looking to buy a Supercrew Lariat or King Ranch 4x4. I am willing to buy new since I can get a great price, but am of course searching used vehicles first in hope of finding that perfect deal.

I know there were several "generations" within the first year of the Supercrew. Is it possible to tell what generation a 2001 model is from the VIN?

Has the leather quality improved between years or is the King Ranch still the only decent leather?

I'll have more questions, I'm sure.

I don't know about the vin #, but a Generation III has headrests on the back seats and no arm rests on the front seats if they are captains chairs. It alos will have a higher and larger console between the front seats with a tray that lifts out to reveal a big open area where the cd changer would be mounted. Hope that helps. I think anything built after Nov 01 is Gen III.

In Nov 01 they were selling 02 model year screws. Do you mean Nov '00? i have no idea when they started making Gen III's because I did not look at a Screw until Aug 01 and I know it is Gen III.

I must hae a red headed step child

Mine is a 01, door date of 05/01, took delivery Tue after memoryial day 2001, ordered it late FEB-01

Rear headrests, no arm wrests, higher console, tray insode.

Is this a NOV-2000 change over ?

As for if a KR changed also...no clue maybe the KR forum would know.

As for "better" leather....that is up to your opinion.
I'll keep mine to myself

The King Ranch has not changed other than the 01 to 02 changes. They did not come out until late 01 when the Gen. III's were already out, so they are all Gen. III. I have gotten very spoiled with my leather though, and would not part with it unless I replaced it with another King Ranch.

2001 Screw Gen I's were built from approx Feb 2000 until mid-July 2000; Gen II's ran from mid-July 2000 til about Nov 2000 followed by the Gen III's!! I owned a 2001 Screw XLT Gen II and just sold it for $26,500 and have a 2003 on order. I know nothing about 2002's! Luv to be Screwed!!!!!
