Katoom,

Thanks for the info. I will most likely get out to Louisville Toppers before I can get to my local distributor (they are about 50 miles away and not in the "nicest" neighborhood). Going to give them a call in the morning.

I was just promoted to Technical Manager for Oral Care at Colgate, I work out of the NY office in Manhattan. Maybe I will see you at Jeff sometime.

It arrived last Friday, installed it today

My Undercover lid arrived last week.

I installed it today after work.
Took about 40 minutes, and was really easy.

Let me know what you all think.... Ryan

Here are the pics....(about 5 additional in gallery)

Cool WOW

ryan

I have been talking with the mfg too, but the prices I am being quoted local are a bit much. Can you say where you ordered it from.

Looks great on your truck, goes well with the bed rug

thanks.

I found a place in Timonium, Maryland (Acres Truck Accessories) that sells the Supercrew Undercover for $575 ($625 installed).

Got mine too.

Ryan, after reading your initial post, I checked into the cover and had one installed on my truck. Paid $615 installed. Installation is very simple, but I was about 60 miles from home so I decided to let them install it. Quality seems great.

The one thing I do not like about the cover is the shape (squared) at the front of the bed. I would have liked to see a more triangular look that followed the bed rails. It looks like it could not be built that way due to the hinge pivot position. I have talked with the manufacturer to see if they could make a couple of "dummy" pieces that could be attached to that portion of the rail and would give the top a more custom look. We will see.

thanks for the feedback

GG - There were no dealers in WA state, so I delt directly with the manufacturer. They were great to work with. Thanks for the compliment.

haccpguy- Yes that small portion at the front is a small annoyance. However I can't complain too much, most people would never notice that. As you say, I guess it was necessary for the design to work. It probably allows for the cover to lift as high as it does and as easy as it does, so i can accept it. (theres a pic of what we are talking about in my gallery). If they do get back to you with any idea, let me know.

Anyway I am very happy with it. Every cover I looked at had pros and cons, and I am convinced I made the best decision after about 3 months of research. The Undercover had the most pros, and the least amount of cons in my opinion. My factors were security, durability, looks, light weight (55lbs) & easy removal, no drilling on the rails, compatible with Bedrug, watertight, oh and of course price.

Cool

ryan.

I have not had Ray from undercover call in a while, and he didn't answer my last email. (REALLY nice guy though) could you answer this question.

I have bed caps as well, and my concern was on the bottom lip of the undercover. I see what looks to be a straight edge with no gasket or padding. I know there is a pad gasket that forms on the flat part where the cover hits the bed caps but, does it appear as though it will be an issue at anytime for rubbing the paint? I am speaking specificly about the over hang area. Also do you think with the right rack attachment you could add a temporary bike rack (for longer trips) just looking for an opinion with someone who has the undercover, thanks!

I will check again

GG - Its only been on there one day, so I will check again and make sure there is no problem with the edges. I think the cover is a little deceiving, it looks like the edges are touching the paint all the way around, with the over the rail design, however, when you look at it actually up close, there is a small gap between the edge of the lid, and the truck. This gap is not visiable unless you are below eye level and looking up at the cover closely. So the edges of the lid are not touching the truck. Anyway its kind of hard to explain. But if you look closely at your Supercrew rails, you will kind of understand what I mean.

Regarding bike rack, I use the Yakima tailgate hitch rack. Works great. The only problem is that this system won't work for all people (some of you may have boats or trailers that need to go in the hitch). Anyway it works for me! I wonder if you were pulling a trailer, if the trailer has a hitch? Then you could still use the rack? ...hmmm

Also, to add a little to the rubbing ther paint question - the top only comes down to the level of the existing bed rail covers. It does not extend down (overhang) to the paint. I will post some pics when I can.

Thumbs up thanks this is very helpful

That's great to know, I plan on seeing one at the local dealer, they were charging $695.00 installed. Bit rich for my blood so I was seeing if I could have it sent from another shop.

Anyway, ryan, I do have a to hitch and no it is not how I plan on transporting my bikes. I have a $500 GT mtn and a $1400 Cannondale road. The last time I used a trailer rack the paint got messed up on the GT BAD! Before everyone sends me links to their favorite rack I have an alterior motive for the rack on the cover. I have a Thule carrier bubble that I use for our holiday trips (yes I know that is what the bed is for, but I also have a newborn too. Pack n' Plays, strollers, diapers, nanny) that I would like to fit all "extra" stuff into. So that would be my reasoning for the rack. And no I would rather not put it on the roof of the cab, if I have to I will, but I am looking at options.

GG- There is a member named "Cheleri"
who has both racks on his roof, and on his bed of his Supercrew.
In addition he has a Retrax retractable cover. It looks really great.

Might be the exact solution you are looking for ? ($$$$),
but I don't know for sure. Just thought I let you know FYI.

Here is the link he provided in one of his posts earlier:
it shows the rack and retrax combo in much detail....

Wink Thanks

Yes actually Cheleri and I have "threaded" before about this. My heart is kinda on the look of the undercover vs. the retrax which he has. I just "personally" don't like the look of the retrax. I have a feeling I will be getting the undercover no matter. Just looking for some insight

Thanks

undercover

I don't have mine yet. I am getting it soon. I have seen them on a rhino dealers truck. They are great. I am planning on customizing mine. I have been talking to Ray at Undercover for a while now getting info and ways to customize. I had a question that ray couldn't answer so he had the owner, Steve, call me. They are a great company and their product is awesome. I would highly recommend getting one.

Sorry, I am new to the site and don't know how to get around real well yet. Congrats, on the new cover. You will love it. I will get mine soon.

Question Will this cover fade?

The only question I have is if it will fade over time. Is it plastic as it appears? I think the weight is an advantage over my fiberglass tonneau(75 lbs) but I like the mathced paint and custom look of fiberglass.

Good Luck Guys,

Chuck

I don't know for sure about the fading. I know it is paintable. I have already talked to my body shop and they said no problem. I would email them from the website www.undercoverinfo.com
Ray will get back with you asap. He is a great guy and has been very helpful in my search for the perfect tonneau.
