I am finding that my tailgate locks by itself.About every three or four times I close it, tailgate locks by itself anyone else having this problem.

 

Interesting. Can't say I've ever had that problem. Then again, with the idiots out there that would love to steal a tailgate, it might not be a problem.

Are you under warranty? If so, sounds like a job for WARRANTY MAN!!

Funny. My wife commented the other day that she has found the tailgate locked at times on our '02 SCrew and couldn't remember locking it. I attributed it to the keyless lock but I'm not so sure now.

 

What I found out is that there is a locking bar inside the tailgate. It needs to be adjusted on my next service visit. I talked with a guy with a F-250 who had the same problem.After a while his locked and wouldn't open with the key, dealer had to take gate apart and adjust this locking bar. His is fine now just something to have looked at. thanks for the reply's

 

I have '99 scab 150 that if you close the tailgate to hard (like slam it)it's locked no key needed, been like that sents day one. Guess I'll have to open the cover see if I can adjust it

 

I have the exact same thing happening with my tailgate lock. Has happened since day 1

 

My 2001 Screw does the same thing! I thought I was going crazy. I am happy to find out that I am not. I have a service sceduled next week. I am going to have it checked out. Thanks again.
