New Mod...
Replaced the F150 XLT fender badge with the F150 Supercrew tailgate badge. Very easy mod with no altering of the new nameplate. Just peel off the old one and slap on the new one. Of course, you will want to 'acetone it' before installing.

I like it a lot. I took the red XLT stickers off of my badges when I did the acetone mod so now I have a space under the f150. It still looks a lot better but I like your idea more.
How much were the new badges and how hard where they to replace?????

Iwao,
The new badges are $14.00ea. Install is very easy. Just pry off the old and slap on the new one. The new badges come with the double-sided tape and the post emblem posts line up exactly with fender holes.

The part # for the tailgate emblem is YL3Z-8442528-AA and is available from www.fordparts.com for $10.99 + $6.95 shipping. I ordered 3 and the shipping remained at $6.95.
I'm plannig on acetoning them first. Then with just a little fishing line and goo gone, I'll be all set!
Thanks for the great mod idea!

Question
Why do you guys acetone your badges? Personally, I think they look great from the factory. At least you can establish it says F-150.
From a distance, one would think you would not be able to read F-150?
My .02 cents anyways..

I have to agree with Jaguar on this one. While I don't have a bad opinion of it, it really doesn't make the truck look any better to me. But...hey, that's my opinion and every body is allowed their own, right. I think the black background on the badge really sets the truck off better than the stark acetoned badge.
But, I do like the red "Triton V8" that S-Crewballer painted on his badge. that may be something I will do when I have done every thing else i want to do.

I just did this same mod about a month ago. Unlike the opinions above, I do NOT like the "F150" badge - it is just plain boring. My first option would have been to take them off and have a smooth fender - unfortunately FORD is unable to place badges on their trucks without alignment holes, so I would have had to get a body shop to fill the holes and repaint the fenders. Second option was to put on Lightning badges when they did my front end and I put on the wheels - when the SCrews came out I was one of the first to do the front end and got many compliments on it. However, many people had problems with this because they were soooooo afraid someone might actually think I had a real Lightning
. So when I saw someone else had put the "Supercrew" badges on the fenders, I thought they looked really good. The acetoned badges really look good on a white truck because in the sun they almost blend into the color of the truck. Not to mention they look great with my new billet antenna.

Looks great.
the acetoning looks good, i like it better though when guys inverse the colors, or paint the F150 the color of the body paint, or paint the emblem the same color as the body, and keep the chrome letters
will probably do that when i get a used ranger for a daily driver.
