Door Chimes
Look in the manual, or else there is also a thread here from a while back that steps you through it. Kind of a long string of things to do, but IMO is well worth it. I did it right after I got my truck and have not regretted it at all!!
I posted this a while back but this is how the manual says to do it....
In my manual it is on page 125 under the "Deactivating/Activating Belt Minder Feature"
Here are the steps in the book, I did this on my second try, the first time I just took too long on one of the steps... YES I KNOW IT'S A LOT OF STEPS but trust me this works.
- make sure your parking break is ON and that the transmission is in park.
- Put the key in the OFF possistion
- Make sure all doors are closed and the lights are off
-Also make sure the drivers side seat belt is unbuckled.
NOW here we go...
1. turn the ignition to the ON position, NOT RUN, do not start the engine.
2.wait until the seat belt warning light goes out (1-2 minutes)
NOTE: steps 3-5 must be completed in 60 seconds or you will have to start over
3.buckle and unbuckle the seat belt 3 times, ending with the belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during the seat belt minder warning activation.
4.Turn the parking/headlights on then off (not he autolamp but the actuall parking/headlights)
5.buckle the seatbelt and unbuckle it 3 more times ending with it unbuckled.
-after step 5 the seatbelt warning light will be on for 3 seconds.
6.within 7 seconds of the seatbelt light going out, buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt once more.
-this will disable the belt minder!
7.Confirmation of disabling the belt minder is provided by the seatbelt warning light flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
Thats it.... I know that it seems wierd but I think that Ford wants to make it difficult (a little bit) so that in court when you try to sue Ford for being able to "acidently" disable a safty feature, Ford could say, YEA try and do that "acidently"!!!!
To turn it back on just repeat these steps and it will come back on.
Hope this helps for those who may not have this in there manual.

chimes
Thanks for the post Dcovell, I'll be doing this to mine this weekend.
The seat belt warning is so anoying when trying to back up my boat into the garage. I don't know which is worse; trying to turn my body enough to see the trailer with the seat belt on OR; that damn chime going off every 15 seconds BING, BING, BING, BING!!!
(The lumber on the boat is for a wake board tower I'm building)

Temporarily turn off seatbelt reminder
Matteo,
When you unbuckle your seatbeat so you can turn around to back up your boat, push down the red seat belt release button again and it will cancel that annoying bing, bing, binging until you restart the engine. This is a better solution than disabling the alarm totally.
