Changing Taillight Bulbs
Changing Taillight Bulbs
This one should be simple. Two days ago my right turn signal started flashing at warp speed. I thought about it a few minutes, walked around the vehicle, and figured out that my right rear bulb was out. I noticed there are no apparent exterior screws for removing the lens. I tried looking underneath, but got some dirt in my eye, and had to give up (for the moment). Befor I crawl back under, can anybody tell me the easiest way to remove and replace the bulb? Is there some kind of bayonette mount in the back of the housing? Anything special to watch out for (besides the exhaust)?
They are actually really easy to change. Open the tailgate, you will see two holes in each post by the lens. Remove the two screws in the holes and the whole tail light assembly will come off. Once off, the bulb assemblies twist out from the back of the lens housing.
I just had to do mine last month. This is another good reason to keep your tailgate locked since it prevents the removal of the rear lens assemble since it is so easy.
