yeah, the old torqueflite used to be an awesome tranny, you could beat the heck out of it day and night with no problems. then comes the 46re based off the torqueflite and it seems to be a dud! and the only electronic control it has is torque converter lockup/unlock and lockout of overdrive via dash button. so, it is sorta mysterious as to why that tranny went down the tubes so much when the overdrive ratio was added...

as for the 4r70w, it seems to be an okay unit. but i must say i think gm now builds the best truck automatics. but that certainly wasn't the case in the early 90s!!
