Need advice on Borla Install please

I just picked up a Borla SI/DO cat back system for my 2001 Super Crew. Planning on installing this weekend. Anyone out there done this already and have suggestions? Picks would help even more.

Thanks in advance.

I paid the boys at Midas to do mine, because I don't have tools. But I gotta say, after watching them do the job, I probably could've done it just as well.
Only took them 17 minutes (I watched the whole thing). No cutting. No problems fishing the pipes around the undercarriage bits. And the Borla fittings are extremely well designed for a tight clamping fit. If you've got the tools to get the pipe off the cat, you shouldn't have any problems at all. Don't expect great sound right away, tho'. Takes about 100 miles or so for the 'puter to readjust to the new flow.

How much did you guys spend on them?

How much would you spend for install?

Does Midas do a good job installing?

Got mine at truckperformance.com during a sale; paid $413 I think, and shipping was free at the time (part of the special). I paid the Midas boys
$50 under the table, not including the cost of a 12-pack of Icehouse longnecks that I provided the crew afterhours for a job well done (under the table, of course). Not bad for 17 minutes of work from two guys. I can expect any future dealings with that particular dealer to be exquisite, head-of-the-line and hassle free, with a discount on anything I want. They honestly enjoyed doing that job and it was done well. I have Zero Complaints. However, I suggest you visit the dealer ahead of time and talk to the head guy who actually does the work and sorta runs the garage. Schmooze a bit, with respect. It goes a long way. The man may cut you a great deal under the table.

I bought mine on sale at Truckperformace.com as well when they had free shipping sale... saved a couple a bucks there as well.

I had my local performance shop install with stainless welding instead of the clamping system they come with. I am very satisfied with the system now that it has been installed for several months. Teh sound has gone from barely noticable when first installed, to a nice low growl when idling or cruisng, to a full throat roar when stomping on the gas pedal... quieter than other's exhaust systems tho... ( that way the SO isnt as upset as she could have been with a louder exhaust... hahaha)

Anyway, check my sig for pics under the truck and clearances around spare tire...

Good luck, go fer it, you wont regret it...

Thanks for all the input guys. I ordered mine from TruckPerformance like everyone else, they have the best prices. Current price for the system is $470, Borla had a recent price increase. TruckPerformance had a free shipping deal going but I had to pay $70 since I live in Hawaii. Not a bad price considering it was shipped FedEx 2nd day. Did the install over the weekend, pretty straight forward except for removal of the stock exhaust. You need to cut the thing out.....jacking the passenger side of the truck helps too. So far I have about 90 miles with the system in and it sounds pretty smooth. According to what everyone else is writing, it should get a little louder as the computer adjusts for the different backpressure, etc. I'll be keeping tabs on my gas mileage to see if it helps there.

Thanks again for all the feedback!
