Unhappy New engine for the Screw

Well we are getting a new 4.6l engine for the Screw. Only 10000 miles on it. While I was passing a vehicle I heard 2 loud POPs from the engine. When we got to our destination a few miles later and got out of the truck I smelled burning oil. Also was getting oil on driveway the week or 2. We noticed a significant decrease in gas milage and power. Took the Screw to dealer, the checked it out and found out the head gasket blew at the rear of the head. Ford said to install a new engine. We hopefully get it back next week.

Here is a link to an old thread of ours about Toppers.

Topper cost $1400, Snugtop XTR, all bells and whistles included in price. This topper is only made for Screws and Nison Frontiers. The only thing I do not like about topper is using cargo cage. It hits the hydraulic rams for window of topper. Have to release cage from sides then flip out. Otherwise it is GREAT!

Read your post in the engines forum. It's really gotta suck the big one. This kind of stuff just doesn't happen to the 4.6L engines.

Glad Ford authorized the new engine instead of the usual rebuilt.

Talking New Engine for Screw

Got the truck back Saturday, 23 Feb, with the new motor. So far so good. We will see if we can get past the 10000 mile mark this time.

Just an update here. It has been 5 weeks or so and no real problems. 2 days after we got the Screw back we had a MAJOR fuel leak. It turns out the dealer mechanic who installed the motor did not put on a clamp for the fuek line, he just slipped it on. Needless to say about 10 gallons of gas to the ground. They came to the truck and fixed the line and filled the tank. Oh aren't they nice!! A few days ago I heard a rattle under the drivers side floor, I discovered the exhaust was loose and hitting the frame, they will fix this next. Boy, I just love this quality work. Truck is great, dealer I am haveing second thoughts. All in all, it is going good. More power, gas mileage is up a bit. Hopefully it gets better once I have the motor broken in in a few thousand miles.
