Post Taking my SCrew in on Monday and here is my list of repairs

Hot CD's, Command center will go from dim to bright sometimes, rough idle and the washer fluid will spray by it's self ( is this the recall or is it something else).

Is there anything else I should be aware of.

Have 17,000 miles on this truck and it's been great!!

Also, when Ford does their oil change on my truck they always charge me for 7 quarts of oil and it's a whopping $36!! Could I tell them I only want 6 quarts, since that's what the book calls for.

Cool

Before you go, check your front tires,, even with regular rotation, the 4 wheel drive versions of our Screws tend to start "cupping". if yours has started (especially if you have Goodyears) have them align the front end and balance the tires on the "Hunter 9700" machine , which is in most Ford dealers.. it may make a difference in ride, and mild "wandering" the Supercrews are noted for.

Interesting...

I've had the same problem with the windshield wiper spray. If you slightly 'jiggle' the arm body, it has the tendency to randomly kick on and spray. Sometimes it'll spray until you 're-giggle' it. It's on my list of items to have checked as well.

Let me know what you find out on this issue. If it's a recall issue, I'd be interested in learning more about it.

THANKS!

On my last oil change, I put in 6 quarts and replaced the filter as well. I noticed about a week after the change that I was down a half a quart but it hasen't moved since then so maybe it is closer to 7 quarts to fill it up than 6 quarts. But the manual says 6 and thats what I am going to stick with.

I called and spoke with the service dept and they said it takes 6.6 quarts. At least that what is says on their meter. Doesnt $48 sound kinda high for oil change and tire rotation? I need to start doing this myself!!

Tell the service department that you only want 6 quarts in the engine. 6 quarts brings the level to the midway point between max and min. That's just where Ford wants it. It doesn't need to be at the max mark.

BTW, what's with putting in 6.6 quarts and charging you for a full 7 quarts? I think you need a refund on the .4 quarts they're cheating you out of!

My Ford dealer has done all my oil & filter changes & they all have been $29.00. When I have my tire's roteted it add's $9.00 to the bottom line. I'm not sure exactly how many quart's though.

Anyone know the answer to Carolina Screw's question about the wiper sprayer being a recall? Mine does this on occasion and it ticks me off royally. It's on my list to have 'looked at' the next time I'm the dealership but, if I knew it was a recall, I'd be more likely to go have it checked out...

THANKS!

RE: Wiper-Washer

Sounds like the old "multi-function switch" problem that pretty much plagued the previous models. Hadn't heard of this problem in a couple of years, though. It usually manifested itself in something called a "phantom wipe" where you'd be driving and the wipers would start up for a wipe or two on it's own.

Just describe the problem to the service writer. They'll replace the switch with a new one.

I don't think there ever was a recall on this. The only wiper recall I know about is the one about the motor catching fire.

The problem I have with the wiper sprayer isnt the recall. I asked that question when I made the appt. and the service dept said it wasnt.

But dont you just love it when you call and make an appt with service and you tell them all the problems and they come and say I have a SCrew and it doesnt do that. Dang, I hate service dept!!!!
