01 vs. 02 handeling
01 vs. 02 handeling
I've recently traded in my 01 screw for an 02 and the turning radius and general handeling is so much better. Did Ford change something? Is it because of the FX4 package, not that it's much. By the way, what does FX4 stand for? "Four by 4"
WHOA! Same situation here. I had a 01 Supercrew 4x2 and the main thing I hated about it was the handling! If felt too floaty, and crosswinds blew me side to side. I traded it in for a 02 FX4 and what a difference! People say that the FX4 rides harsher and although it does *a little bit*, I'll take that over the "floaty" feeling that my 02 had. I'am sure going from a 4x2 to a 4x4 helped with stiffness it does feel like a different truck..brakes, steering, ride, etc. Great package.
Isn't the only diffrence the shocks and the wheels/tires?
Anyone out there with diffrent shocks on there 2001 4x4 SCREW, did you notice any improvment with turning ability??? I would almost be positive the ride will be better (but stiffer) but the steering radius thing is intresting, I wouldn't think that the diffrent shocks would make a diffrence unless there is something else on the FX4 that isn't listed as a part of the upgrade...

i was contemplating doing the same but I'm worried I'd lose way too much on the truck, plus I finally got my stereo setup finished. can you get that fx4 decal in another color? i think it would look crappy on a black truck...

I got 22k for my trade in, 4.6 w/ 30k miles. I had to work the dealer a little. Considering I paid 28 for the truck, drove it 18 months I feel good about the trade.
I don't know what it is about the FX4 package, but it handles better. Maybe it is the sticker! What does FX4 stand for?

I recently ordered a 2002 fully loaded White w/Silver Lariat SCrew FX4. The dealer is giving me 25k for 2001 White 4X4 Lariat SCrew w/19.5 K miles, plus 100 over invoice for the new one. The catch is I can't go over 20.5k miles until the new one gets in and the nerfs, Michelins and liner stay with the truck. They don't get the Lightning heads and tails! I'm getting it from the same dealer so they know the troubles the truck has been having. The 2001 I own now is a P.O.S. I still like the SCrew but I have to admit, if the Chevy/GMC trucks had the factory Moonroof option and 17" wheels I might have jumped ship...
Still waitin.
