Rearview Mirror Removal?

Anyone know how to remove the inside rearview mirror, leaving just the small metal plate that's adhered to the windshield?

I have another mirror (with maplights) I would like to swap in.

Thanks,

From what I havew read on this issue is you take a small screw driver and insert it where the liltte slot is on the mirror and you push on a clip that is in there. I tried it but I couldn't get it to move and didn't want to break anything. You might have better luck then me.

Just replaced my factory one with the eight inch billet..
Use very small flat head screw driver. press in the bottom
slot, that will release the clip. slide the mirror up ward..
took about 30 seconds. good luck...

To add to this thread...

I would like to move to rearview mirror higher on the windshield. It always seems to be in the way and at times has actually hidden other cars from view.

Anyone know how to get the clip that is attached to the windshield off? It should just be glued on right?

To anyone who wants to remove the factory non-powered rearview mirror on an 97-03 F150, use a small satndard screwdrive no bigger than 1/8 inch wide. Insert small screwdriver into the bottom of the mirror clip and gently pry towards you, it will pop right off, make sure your holding on to the mirror with your other hand.
