HELP! Headrests on Backwards and won't come off!
I wish I could blame my 8 year old twins for carelessly placing the rear headrests backwards in the seatbacks, but I did it myself. Now they won't come out. It appears that the notches in the headrest posts have locked into the seatback headrest retainer hole. There is no button to push to disengage the headrest on the outboard sides. The headrest will not move up or down. It is stuck in the highest setting where the first notch engaged in the headrest hole. Not only does it block my vision but I can't lower the seatback. I would appreciate any assistance anyone may have. I plan to put a "B" on the back of the headrest to prevent accidently doing it again.
Did the same thing myself.........only once........I pressed the button, although I don't think it was doing anything and I just forced it up...it came out and it was fine....good luck....

Yes, straighten a paperclip or use a very small nail and stick it in the tiny hole and that will release the pin that is holding your head rest in place (backwards). It's not in the original owners manual, but there is actually a TSB out for it. So apparently this has been a fairly common problem, and also one they predicted. Hence the tiny hole already there.

I thank heaven for bulletin boards like this one! I was installing seat covers and accidentally re-inserted the headrest backward. What a frustration!
But, I tried the paper clip trick and it worked like a dream. Thanks.

It's not a hole really. There's a release button on both sides of the headrest stalks, but only one is obvious.
You can use a flathead screw driver to press into the other side's plastic cover that the stalk slides in. If you look at it closely (might need to press down around that ring to see it) you'll see the portion that you can press.
If you search here for "leather seats" or "ebay leather" you'll find a lot of threads that also contain info on the headrests.

yeah and if you get it really jammed, you can take the seat cover off and pull the foam back and actually widen the plastic channel that is inside the seat. I know this works on up to and through 03, it may or may not work for 04+
