SCrew, 4x4 front to rear height?

I just got a new 4x4 SCrew.
The back was 2 1/4 inches higher than the front. I adjusted the torsion bars (I could probably go another 3 or 4 turns to the stop) and changed the difference to about 1 1/4 inches.
Is this about the norm with everyone?
Thanks,
Cap

Where are you measuring to compare front to back? I have also cranked my bars and only got about 3/4" change. I am measuring to the inside of the fender lip, is that what you are doing?

I am measuring from the ground, centering on the middle of the hub cab, to the lip of the fender.

Just went out and checked. On an empty tank, the driverside rear is a 1/2 inch higher than the the other. Iwould think with a full tank it would be level.

The rear is set higher from the factory. Once you put something heavy in the back or two a trailer the truck will ride level instead of the rear sagging.

So if you torque up the front, you will have to use air bags or add a leafs etc. to keep the back from being lower than the front. I understand that if the front if much higher than the back it is harder to steer as the areo-dynamics will get messed up. Again I have heard this, don't know if it's true, personally I never carry andthing heavy and don't see myself towing much. So it's on my list...

Don't forget. Anytime you change the front height of the truck by cranking on the torsion bars, you need to get the front end realigned. Raising the front using the torsion bars throws off the geometry.

You get free alighnment (sp) for the first 12000 miles. It goes in Tuesday.
I like the look and feel of the stiffer bars though.

capp,
I cranked my bar's about 2 turn's on each side & I got 3/4" + out of that . The truck does'nt sit level but closer than it did. There is about 3/4"- 1" difference between the back & front as it sit's.
A guy that I work with has a 2002 4x4 screw with stock height on the t-bars & I'll take the more level look that mine has anytime.
It make's quite a visual difference for just a little turning.
Handle's much better too.

Just remember, this also alters your suspension travel, less up, more down.

This is just my opinion. I would spend the extra $$$$ and go to a good tire place & get an alignment.

Mine sat about 1 3/4" higher in the back . My front did'nt seem real low to begin with. The guy at work's truck seem's to sit alot lower in front than in the rear. I don't remember mine being that drastic of a diff.
later...Mike

You have it backwards on the travel.
