Rear door light question

Should be a simple question…

When do the lights on the rear doors lights illuminate? I don’t use the back doors a lot, but every time I do, I look at the red lenses and wonder when they will turn on.

(I'm not talking about the reading/courtesy lights on the ceiling)

--Thanks

The rear doors don't have lights like the front doors. The red lens you see is only a reflector. Only reason I know is because I pulled the door panels off a couple of times to change the speakers. I didn't look if it would be possible to add a small light there, similar to the front door. That would be a cool little mod!

Hey matteo,

HI SCREW is correct, I've had my rear panels off too to replace my speakers and sure enough there is no wiring or bulb sockets so there is no lights in the rear doors.

As HISCREW said, that'd be a cool mod and I don't think it'd be too bad to do. The hardest part would be adding a door switch to operate the lights and of course there would be the issue with getting power to the switch and fuse protecting the circuit.

Later,

I guess Ford got cheap on this one and just did the reflector thing for (I guess) safty reasons. So when your back door is open on coming traffic will see your truck at night.
