Gas mileage-No mods
Marc Carpenter wins the prize today!! I consider myself a "coon ***" as well, having spent the better part of my life growing up in and around Baton Rouge ("suckin' heads" -- as in crawfish -- and enjoying oysters and horseradish). Take it easy, Sean. I wasn't climbing up yer butt, buddy.
Here's my story.
Summer blend fuel-13.5-14.5 mpg city
Winter blend fuel 12-13.5 mpg city
although 1 freek time got 16.1 combined in summer.
Highway- Hard to tell never ran a full tank consistantly on the highway without pulling a trailer or stop & starting or being loaded with something.

My 02 S'crew with the 4.6 has done 3.000 miles. The best I have had from a tank was 18, and the worst was 12.5 but that was all urban driving with no freeway. The average from day 1 is 16.
Considering that an imperial gallon is 20% larger than a US gallon, this is pretty shabby, although I do set the cruise at 90, which is the probable cause of the low average, as most of my miles are on the freeway, and when the engines warm, it gets plenty of right boot. I dont have the time to ******* around behind all the other folks who have all day. Fuel here is over $4 for a US gallon, so I hope that this will improve. I certainly hope so, because my next one may be a 5.4.

Thanks for all the response guys. I really appreciate all the reply's except for one. Just because I live in Lafayette, La. does not by any means make me a Coon *** but I appreciate the compliments anyway. Its "CAJUN" for you that don't know their a__ from a hole in the ground. I just thought I was getting poor mileage but it looks as though thats pretty much the norm. So I guess that info they (factory monkeys) put on window sticker is bogus just about every other claim they make. Thats ok with me its still the best damn truck to drive. Late. BD. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
I typically get close to 18 mpg on mostly rural roads commuting to work. This isn't exactly interstate driving, but there is also very little stop and go and a large portion spent around 60 mph.
The sticker on my truck was 17 and 21 and the highest I have ever gotten is 19.3. Overall I am disappointed in the mileage. I don't understand why I would get much closer to the "city" number than the "hwy" number. With sedans I have owned, we have always averaged very close to the "hwy" number but I can't touch the 21 with the screw.
I wonder sometimes what goes into the numbers on the stickers and why they seem to be consistently high for SUVs and trucks and pretty accurate for sedans.
