Angry Eaa.com change-up

Greetings. I am a first time writer but a long time follower. I did not want to write in until I wan an official supercrew owner. I am set to order a new fx4 after the new year. Now the reason for my message is eaa.com started a new policy where as of Dec. 1st you have to wait a year to get the Ford x-plan. AAAAAHHHHH!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah I know why did I wait? I figured wait for 2002 for the 2002 truck. Does anyone know any other place where I could get the same deal as eaa w/o applying for a job at Ford? Thanks for any help and I hope all of you have a great holiday..

I got x-plan through my employer, Lockheed Martin. Most of the big companies offer this, but they don't advertise it.

I told them, when I bought my new 01 SCrew 12/02/01, that I was using the X-plan but they never asked for my PIN.
I'm not telling you to lie, but if you have the membership to EAA, they may not ask for the PIN.
Good luck, I hope you get your truck!!

Hey screwed02,

You can negotiate a deal fairly close to x plan if you know your numbers and know what the dealer paid for the vehicle. Also, if you don't get a trade mixed in with the deal you can keep it all straight much easier. If you negotiate invoice price with no trade then you are only a couple hundred bucks higher than X plan and most dealers will sell at or near invoice with no problem and there are still plenty of them who don't advertise. There are tons of dealers that sell over the internet with invoice price or there abouts but you go to the dealer and ask for invoice price and they act like they don't know what you're talking about. Then you talk about the internet deals and they will probably say oh, come this way 'cause we've got a special room where we handle those deals.

Just tell them invoice price or no deal and you'll drive that puppy home with almost x plan price. If you know exactly what you can dump your trade for and they give you that much or more then do both as long as you keep track of the hokus pokus you can pull it off. Have all the numbers on paper and know the bottom line you need to pay or finance and no matter what they say as long as it comes up the same you've got the same deal.

Good luck and welcome to the forum, you'll love it as I do.

Thumbs up

DaveMan,

Thank you very much for your reply. I took your advice and began pricing the truck with the options at the invoice and MSRP prices side by side. So far I used Carpoint, Edmunds, and Cardirect. The only two options that I could not find prices for were the bed liner and the tonneau cover, W/O the snaps. Do you, or anyone else, know THESE prices and any more suggestions on getting the truck prices.

Happy Holidays to all,
screwed02

Any relatives work at Ford?

You could always do what I did & buy my Screw through the A plan. My wife's sister works (or at least did back in January) at the truck plant in MO. We did the A plan using my wife's name as she is the direct relative.

When you arm yourself with the REAL invoice prices, that gives you much more leverage on getting the best deal. Unfortunatly you really have to play with some dealers, & others are just a waste of time.

One local dealer lost my sale. I mentioned that my wife's sister works for Ford at the truck plant. Did not phase them one bit (this is a one price, no haggle dealership), so I walked. At a different dealership, mentioned the same thing, the dealer I was working with told me about the A plan & I left with my Screw that night! (at 1 price dealerships, you are paying for the privlidge of not haggling, sometimes several grand )

Same thing on a used car I once purchased. They were asking almost $4K over bluebook. The expression on the dealers face when he learned that I did my homework was priceless!

Another site to check pricing on in addition to daveman's suggestions is cars.com (which gets it's information from intellichoice.com)

As far as the bed liner or bed cover / topper goes, you will most likely get a better deal aftermarket. There are lots of discussions with pictures on toppers, tonneau covers & bed liners.

Also if you are interested in the FORD bedextender, get it with your truck either off the lot or when you order your truck. Back in January, they were a $200 option, or $450 from the parts counter! Myself, I purchased a SteelHorse bed extender for less then the installed option.

Happy hunting & good luck!
