Question Throttle problem or just not used to new truck

I just got a 2002 Supercrew on Monday. 5.4L engine, wondering if I have an accelarator problem or just not used to driving something new and nice(got rid of my 81 F-150). Going down the road at highway speed if I take my foot off the accelarator the truck continues at the same speed until a hill or I brake. Same at lower speeds going 20 or 25MPH if take foot off gas truck will travel for 3 o4 block before starting to slow down.

I would guess that because the enormous weight of the truck and the fact that the trans will slip into the highest gear, this is possible. If you think the throttle is stuck or something you could bring it back to the dealer and have them check it out. Another test would be to go along the same strech of road and just put it in netral and see what happens, ie see how much the wind will slow down the truck.

Check you tach, see how much it drops the minute you get off the throttle. This will tell you if indeed it's sticking. Mine coasts down a ways also, but the tach drops off right away.

Totally normal

Noticed the same thing with my truck. I was used to pedal-cable-carb but there is just TOO much computer crap between your right foot and the engine nowadays.

I do a lot of heavy traffic Interstate driving. I thought the people driving newer vehicles were poor drivers or just in too big a hurry, with their brakelights coming on all the time. Now, i have to do the same thing and I don't like it. I preferred having more response from the throttle in the old truck.

I checked this on mine on the way home tonight... mine drops immediately to 1100 rpm when I let off the throttle... seems to me that it could also be a torque converter problem, that it is stays locked up and the speed of the truck could be keeping the engine spinning? Unless the throttle, or IAC or something is sticking and slowly returning the engine to idle?

I had the same problem with my screw. Did the air box mod, disconnected the negative battery cable, drove it for a week and no problems. I came back from vacation a week later and noticed my tach wasn't going no where after I took my foot off the gas. It just hovered around 2300 RPMs. The next day, it was fine. What's up with that?

I just completed our first road trip (1200 miles) with our 02 Supercrew.
I have to agree with the other comments expressed above. At any speed when you release the gas pedal the truck continues to "slowly" lose, scrub speed away and the rpm gauge hangs in their above 1000 rpm. I wonder if it is a function of the overdrive ( no engine braking). I think I will try to shut of the Overdrive on the way home tonight to see the results.
I drove my 1984 Ford 150 yesterday and it begin dropping speed when your foot comes off the gas petal.
I get the feeling that the 02 Screw is still feeding gas to the engine when decelerating from any speed.
