Thank the Big Guy for step bars......
Thank the Big Guy for step bars......
well, add me to the 'I did a bone-headed thing' this week. Went to this store and there was no space to park in the lot so I decided to park on the shoulder, at the front of the driveway........I mis-judged the distance I had and the right front wheel fell over the culvert in the ditch....My heart literally stopped....had to drop it in 4x4 to get myself unhung..
as I drove forward, I heard this terrible scraping noise, and thought the fender was a gonner or something just as bad. in two seconds I was out and parked the truck on the side of the road. When I got out, and took a look at the right side....It was the bracket that held my step bar that was getting manhandled.....it got bent pretty bad, and pushed up, but hopefully I can get the sledge and pound it back in place without using a torch to heat it up..
Man, I've never done anything like that before....those bars are worth every penny now. I'm just afraid of stress fractures in the surface that will lead to rust now.
At least there was no damage to the truck.
If your thinking about step bars......my vote is yes....they're nice, and most definitely functional.
