Hard to start a Screw ?

Just giving you a head's up if anyone else run's into this. My truck was having a starting problem. When I would go to start it it would crank for a while before firing & would have surging at idle on a pretty frequent basis over the last week or so. So I called my trusty Ford dealer on Friday at 4:30 pm to ask about it because it seemed to be getting worse. He asked it I could bring it in on Friday eve. at about 7:30pm ( my dealer is open everynite until 11:00 pm & Saturday 8:00am -1:00 pm, pretty nice)Anyway's they found the problem & it was an IAC(idle air control) valve assembly. They replaced it & I was down the road by 9:00 pm.Just a little tid bit more the mechanic said that if the IAC valve is bad it WILL NOT show a code when put on the scope.
Just thought you might want to keep this in mind for reference.
He said it is a fairly common problem & yes it was covered under warranty.
See ya ...Mike

Question Hmmm...

Mine too has donew this about a total of 4 times. It hasn't done it now for at least a month. I wonder if this could be my problem also...

We have the same problem with ours (2001) 5.4 and even brought it to the dealer but of course it didn't do it for them and they said there was no codes. But now I will try again.

Thanks Mike

Intresting, my truck has done the idle up and down about 3 times now since I got it. I give it a little gas and it's gone. But if it gets worse I guess this could be the answer. By the way where is this sensor located??? Just curious.
