Question Best Quick on/off Hard Cover?

I am checking for real world experience with installing and removing fiberglass hard cargo covers. I have a Century (just installed by dealer a week ago). I have not yet tried to remove it (but plan to). It is on with C-clamps.

How long does it take to remove/install YOUR fiberglass cargo cover and who is the vendor? I have checked links to Snugtop, Versacap, A.R.E. ,etc but you can't beat real world experience.

Thx,

Brian

Snuglid removal

...takes about 3-4 mins with a helper. This supposes that all the clips have safety keepers installed because removing the four keepers (one for each strut and one for each metal tongue) is what takes the time. Once the keepers are removed, it takes about 30 seconds to actually remove the lid (lift up at rear, slide tonneau back a few inches, lift and remove. ...Now, where to put the darn thing!

I concur with Marv1. Snuglid takes me 5 minutes max to remove and most of that time is getting the clips off.

So does the Snuglid re-install as fast as it comes off? Any problems re-aligning for a watertight fit, etc?

thx

SnugTop easy to R&R........

I have the SnugTop brand hard cover on my S-crew, I have had to remove it a few times, it's not too bad to remove and replace.

The only real problem is that I've had to have my wife help me, she is about 5 feet tall and weighs about 105, so it's a bit of a struggle for her.

No leaks into the bed after reinstalling it all. One of the best purchases I've made for this truck.

What did you guys give for your covers? I'm trying to budget for the next upgrade for my truck.

Question snuglid

Hi n6van,
That looks like a great price for you snuglid. May I ask where you got it? I'm in San Diego, but orange county is only an hour or so away for a good deal. Did you get the clamp on system or bolt on?

thanks

Talking SnugLid & BedRug!

Just had both a SnugLid and Bedrug Installed!

Looks easy to remove with a little help.

I had my Lid carpet lined to match the Bed Rug. Now I have the biggest Trunk around.

I went with the bolt on install to make it as strong as possible.

Work was done by DFW Camper Corral in Dallas.

Check out my photo album for more pics of install.

I have the Jason "Dimension" lid and it incorporates a C clamp system and sits on the bed rails. I have removed it several times. 2 cotter(sp) pins and 4 wingnuts. On and Off within 10 minutes with someone to help lift.

Good Luck!

Snug top

Hey bugsdoc1,

How does the Snug top lid cover the bed caps especially at the front corners?

A friend of mine bought an Astro cover and you can close it with the tailgate down and see plenty of light through the front edge. I'm looking for a tight lid.

I noticed an ad in Truckin' that stated that the Snug top covers had the best fit for Fords. Just wondering about that from someone who knows.

Thanks,
David
