If I build it, will they come? I am a truck builder in west Texas and am considering building a stretch version of the Supercrew with a 6 1\2 foot bed ( standard short bed) Projected cost is $6500 for the conversion. anybody interested? Paxton

Why, buy a F250 or F350.

I'd consider if you ate the cost and used photos of the truck for sales literature!

I think it is a great idea I wish Ford would listen and start building Screws with a 6'1/2 " bed . I would buy one .

I'm in the market to upgrade from my 99 supercab 4x4 orp, my kids are gettin bigger need the real four doors , I test drove a F-250 with a 5.4 , it felt really under powered !! . I test drove the King Ranch screw nice truck I just want my full sized bed !!!

Cool

I have enough trouble parking me SCREW as it is now. The extra foot on the end would make it a nightmare! So I would have to say not intrested.

I think it would be cool to see a SCREW limo with 2 extra doors and then convert the bed into a jacuzzi.

That would be cool, then you could charge a fortune for it and parking would not be the concern as it would not be a daily driver.

I'd buy one if Ford would make it. I can't justify $6500 for it though. GM has the right idea....I hate to say it. The bed on the Screw is way too small.

I live here in San Diego and have seen several of the streched Excursions and Expidetions, plus a few of the Navigators.

They are pretty cool looking and are very popular around La Jolla.

Well, not me. I don't like the Superduties because I can't garage one and don't tow anything. Don't really like the way they look or drive either...just my 2 cents

Ford has the capability to build it, just by using the Supercab long box frame. They will probably make it available in a couple of years.

I think the main consideration that Ford took in making the bed the length it is, is because of the existing longest wheelbase for the f-150s is the 139" wheelbase the same as the extended cab long bed. Ford would have to make an entire new chassie for the SCREW to make the bed longer, and we would all be paying more money for our beloved screws.

dcovell,

Not sure I buy that.... in 1999 there was a 157" wheelbase SuperCab Longbed. Ford could have easily made a SuperCrew with that chassis and a 6 foot bed.

The big problem with the 157" wheelbase was manueverability. At my old house, a truck that long could not park in my driveway easily... it would hit the curb on the other side of the street before the front end was on the street.

The 1997 F150 remodel was intended to "personalize" the F150 line with the SuperDuty being the work truck. I actually remember reading the early articles about Ford redesigning specifically for those who would not use it as a work truck. Once it reaches 157" wheelbase, it becomes more of a hassle parking/maneuvering.

If you want a longbed Screw, it is the F250 CrewCab work truck...

Thumbs up Stretch version of the Supercrew

I think it would sell,,,,,
You must do at least one to judge the response. I would have ordered mine that way if it was available from ford, can't do much now, it is a lease.

But I would love to see any pictures of the finished product if you do one. I may explore that idea further when I re-lease in a year or so, I can't get my ATV in the box.
