Screw transmission
Screw transmission
Took my screw into the Ford dealer here in Palm Beach yesterday. I wanted them to check a funny noise coming from the rear end when I came to a complete stop. I'm not sure how to describe it other than a clunk. The truck has 20k miles on it. The service advisor called me yesterday and said that they needed my truck overnight because they had to pull the transmission out. I was kind of shocked because I thought it might be something on the rear brakes or in the rear end. Today, I go and pick up my truck, the guy told me that they basically had to rebuild the transmission. (Warranty) I drove it around the block and the noise is now gone.
I guess I'm asking has anyone else experienced this and is this the infamous ford transmission clunk that everyone on here talks about from time to time? Was the rebuild overkill? Now, i'm I a little scared of the tranny's longevity, having to rebuild at 20k miles.
