Mostly satisfying SCrew.
Let me start out by saying hello. I'm new here, and from what I read this seems to be the greatest collection of knowledgable Ford enthusiests out there.
Well lets start out by saying that on 9-30-01 I got Screwed. It's black, beautiful (sp?), and powerful. It's a GEN III XLT 4x2 with 5.4L. I traded in a 98 F150 XLT 4.2L 5spd. The Difference is Night and Day between the two.
But there have been a couple of problems with the SCrew. The first problem was that on 10-01-01 I was leaving my local truck accessories store and put the key in the ignition, started the engine, but much to my suprise the started stayed engaged and kept trying to crank. It took me a couple of seconds to realize what that funny noise was and I turned off the ignition key, pulled the key out of the ignition, but the starter kept cranking. I had to end up disconnecting the battery and calling roadside assistance to get it towed back to my dealer.
Next it took the dealer over a week to get my truck back to me after repaeted phone calls inquirering about its status (dealer never called me). They were also going to take care of a due bill for a spot on the left rear seat cover.
Next complaint, when I picked up the truck a week later, in which I had only spent 24 hours in, with less than 200 miles on it was returned to me with scratched paint and greasy hand prints, foot prints, whatever prints all over interior of vehicle. After pointing these out to them and making them clean the vehicle I left. The due Bill was never done because they had to order a new seat cover for the rear.
Two weeks later new seat cover comes in they call me to say that I need to bring them the Due Bill, which they lost, before they will even set me up an appoitment to fix the truck. I inquired about the paint in which no one knew what the h*ll I was talking about. After that just asked to speak to their manager. Set up the appoitment drove in the truck and guess what? they do a half *ss job on fixing paint and they order the seat cover in the wrong color. Looks like another trip to the Dealer.
All things aside I love the truck and engine combo. It pulls great and has treamendous torque. I'm glad I bought it.

CincySCrew,
First let me welcome you to F150online....WELCOME.....ok, now that that is done, I have to agree the starter problem is just that: a problem that needs to be fixed.. all the other complaints...well, they can all be taken care of in one fell swoop...get rid of that lame a$$ dealer your going to. it sounds like they are 99% of your problem....you never know how much of a part your dealer play until you need them. Good luck with your new truck, enjoy it and I know you'll love it.

As S'Crewloose said you never know your dealer until you need them, they play such an important part in our enjoyment of our trucks and most of the time they don't seem to give ***** . . . !
I had the same type of problem with the first service on my Scab, but once I complained, in writing, they have made an effort to take better care of my truck (and I'm sure everyone else's too). My dealer has started a pre-service and a post-service inspection procedure that put an end to most of the hand-prints, etc.
Shop around, you should be able to find a dealer that wan't your business! And once again, welcome!
Bob
