couldn't find in search - flashing overdrive light?

Has anyone had this happen to them? I was driving at highway speed (about 60-65) when all of a sudden my overdrive light started flashing. It did this for aboutmaybe 20-30 seconds, then quit. It hasn't done it since, and the overdrive button seems to function normally (I can feel it shift in and out of OD)

If anyone's had this occur to them, let me know if you had anything done to resolve it. Thanx.

The flashing OD light indicates something abnormal about the trans, not just OD. Usually it's a sensor malfunctioing, I think the trans has about 11 sensors on it. If it flashed for twenty seconds and never again, I'd forget about it. If it reoccurs get the dealer to check it out. If it flashes for the dealer he can get the code.

My Windstar wouldn't 'act up' for the dealer so, he installed a recorder with a button to push during the 'flash periods' that would 'trap' the codes. Problem was a $60 sensor.

A friend of mine had the same problem, ignored it and it eventually led to a new tranny.

Mine has done this twice. It would not go into overdrive while flashing and I had to turn off the truck and restart it to get it off. The last time was 2 months ago. I just had my truck in for its first visit to the dealer and they didn't find any codes and did nothing.

Mine was flashing and Ford's computer came back with "bad selenoid". They replaced the selenoid and everything is fine now.
