Question Telescoping antena?

Has anyone seen one? Is it even possible? There doesn't appear to be alot of room under the stock antena to put the motor and telescoping parts.

I keep hitting the roof of the parking garage with it and want to either shorten it or install something shorter.

Is the reception with these shorter antennas the same as the taller ones?
