Screw or GMC C3?

I have been waiting to get a new truck and have decided that now is the time. The problem is I am stuck between a 2002 screw or a 2001 GMC Sierra C3.

Pros of Screw: Good looking truck. I can add stuff to it (play with it). It has a higher stance (4x4)
Cons of Screw: Not a very good interior. 4.9% on 60 months (for 2002) I know 2001 has 0% for 60 months, but I want that dark gray.

Pros of C3: Incredible interior. AWD. 2.9% on 60 months.
Cons of C3: Exterior doesn't look as good. It already has EVERYTHING, so it isn't as fun... Will cost me $3,000 more.

I have the x-plan for Ford and the GMS plan for GM, so I will get the best price on both.

I know that most people are going to say the f-150, but why?

Thanks...

Hey MichaelB14,

Are you sure about the 0% for 60 months on the '01 screws? I just bought a left over '01 and it was 0% for 36 months and 2.9% for 60. Let me know 'cause if your right then I'm going back to raise he//, or get the difference in cash.

Thanks,

DaveMan

0% for 60 months

Yes, I believe it came out yesterday.

2001 - 0.0% for 60 months
2002 - 4.9% for 60 months

I guess I don't know much about the GMC, but I love the interior of my SCrew. What do you mean abou the GMC having an incredible interior? My truck is very comfortable and spacious and well laid out. I like the console and controls and the fold down seats in back are great. Fill me in. You are right about that new grey, it looks good.

The C3 doesn't look or feel like a truck on the inside. It has the look and feel of a luxury SUV (Basically same interior as Escalade).

Stuff like: Black Cherry Woodgrain (cool looking woodgrain - it is grey based instead of tan based)
Heated seats with driver memory
Rear audio seat controls
Six Disk In Dash CD Changer
Steering Wheel Mounted Radio Controls
"Plusher" leather
Homelink

I am leaning towards the screw still, but wanted other peoples opnion...

FOUR REAL DOORS!

I picked the SCrew over a supercab because I wanted/needed the 4 real doors and interior space. I haul around more stuff (people, kids, etc.) and wanted the cab space.

My past experience with GM products has not been favorable.

Had my SCrew since Feb and have no regrets.

Michael - depends on what you are looking for. A friend of mine has a 2001 Chevy 2500HD four-door 4X4. I agree, the interior is much nicer and more gadgets than my Screw. And if you are buying for power, GM is the way to go. He can smoke the tires in that thing everytime he takes off (8 Liter gas engine) and his tows a lot better than mine - of course that is understandable with a larger engine. He only gets about 10 miles/ gallon though, whether he is towing or not.

As far as looks go, you can't beat the Screw. To me the GM looks too much like a construction truck. And I love the shorter bed. When I drive his truck, I feel like I am driving a motor home because it is four doors plus a standard bed. If you are planning on parking it in a garage, make sure you measure to see if the GM truck will fit.

equal comparison

I'm not sure that comparing a 3/4 ton HD Chevy/GMC to a 1/2 ton SCrew is equal. I don't want to say "not fair". I think they are two different trucks. Do a comparison between a 3/4 ton Ford and a 3/4 Chevy/GMC or Dodge. I think the SCrew's conterpart or arch-enemy would be the Avalanche. And I don't think you want to know peoples opinions on that frankenstein.

For some reason, F150 is the #1 truck for 20+ years running.... and if you watch the incentives (rebates and financing) over a period of time, I think you'll see that GM discounts much more often. So, it seems that F150 is #1 due to something other than price. No?

Can't go wrong either way?

Hey,
Many people will disagree but my whole family is all GM, except for me when I got the ford (Dad tried to convince me not to go Ford but i'm just as happy). I can't help you pick (unless I resort to brand "favoritism" in which case Ford!) but I think you'll be fine either way. I bet the ratio of satisfied:unsatisfied customers is about equal, as all our GMs have been reliable vehicles.

Plus you'll hear horror stories about both of them too, but that's what a warranty's for.

If you'd rather have a more confortable interior (plusher leather and more attractive in your opinion) and a more powerful engine, go with the chevy. If you want a better looking truck on the outside and 4 real doors, go Ford.

Good luck, I'm sure whatever you buy will be great.

Ford or Chevy...

I would probably get the C3, BUT I just don't think it has a very aggresive stance to it.

I wish this decision was easier. Maybe I will just wait for the 2003... probably not.

Hey MichaelB14,

I just called my local dealer and they have 2.9% for 60 months for all '01 trucks. They have 0% for 36 months only for trucks. Where do you live? Incentives are based on location so maybe it's 0% for 60 months in your area but surely not in mine here in SC.

Anybody,
What are the incentives in your area for the '01 F-150s still sittin' on dealers lots?

Dealer was wrong...

I think the guy I talked to didn't know what he was talking about. I talked to two other dealerships today and they both said 2.9% for 60 months...

Sorry about that...

Hey
I'll forgive you 'cause at least you admitted to giving incorrect info. Hey, no big deal, it's just a couple thousand dollars between 0 and 2.9 for 60 months and we all know that's just chicken change, right? Just kiddin', if you would have been right then I would have been down to see my dealer or would be on the phone with Ford Credit trying to get my 2.9% interest money back.
