I just had the Ford underbody lighting kit installed ! It works great , my neighbors must think my truck is possesed by demons because I kept going to the window to hit the button on the keyless to unlock the doors and making the lights come on . I drove around last night going to a few stores just so I would have a reason to get in and out of the truck so people would notice the lights . I bought 2 sets with 2 lights in each set , I probably could have only gotten 1 set and still had plenty of light , but I haven't seen any installed on other trucks and I didn't know how bright they would be . Besides , the screw has 4 doors so I want 4 lights I told my friends at work and the frist thing out of everyones mouth was " you put neon lights on a $35,000 dollar truck!" NO , NOT NEON YOU DUFFUS ! The lights only come on when you unlock the doors , open the doors or when you turn the dome light on manualy , they shine on the ground under the door so you can see the oil spot some Chevy left all over the ground .
Anyway ... for 2 pair the lights were $300 dollars and $15 dollars tax , money well spent in my opinion , although you could probably rig something up alot cheaper . The part number in case anyone else would like to order it is " XF2Z-13707-AA " I wish I had a digital camara so I could post some pics , maybe I'll take a few with my regular camara and scan them this weekend . Now , whats next ... oh yeah , the pretty young blond passenger seat mod ... anyone know where I can get one ?

I had the same thing installe d on my new 2001 Screw 4x4. I purchased it from my Ford dealer along with the power slider and remote start/alarm system, they had some outside Ford authorized installer put the lights and the remote in. My experience so far with these add on's hasn't been as good as you, my lights don't seem to work properly, they won't come on with the interior lights when I push the key fob, they only come on when the drivers door is opened (A little late if you ask me). I only received two lights, I like your idea of four though, and I will try and add two more after the dealer gets them fixed. The power slider works flawlessly, problem is with the installers, they broke the plastic plugs that seem to be the only fastener to hold the rear panel behind the seat, (they tried to glue the heads back on and pass that off as OK. The remote start works well, and came with two factory like key fobs, but mine will only sound the horn if it detects an intrusion, I was under the impression that it came with a siren to be added with the horn for the alarm (I think I read that in the literature). All the problems haven't yet been reported to my dealer, but I will do that Monday and he will help me out.
I'll post here if things go well, or not well.

sorry to hear your lights are not working right , maybe they tapped into the wrong wire . It should come on anytime the interior light is on . Try to turn on the interior light manualy from inside the truck with the door closed , if they come on then it might have something to do with the new key fob for the alarm/starter. I didn't realize how bright they would be or I would have bought 1 pair , but I like it just the way it is now . It makes the front and rear of the truck seam very dark now when theay are lit , maybe I should get another set and put one up front and one in the rear. By the way , where did you get the info for the 4 different alarm systems Ford offeres as accessories ? My dealer cant seam to find his butt with his finger ! They had no idea their was such a thing as an underbody lighting kit , I had to point it out to them in the catalog that was laying right beside him on the counter . I asked about the alarm systems , he said yeah we can get you one ... I said well their is 4 listed , can you tell me the difference in them ? He stood there looking stupid so I just shook my head and left . Everywhere I go their seams to be a Dumba$$, a Smarta$$ , and a Jacka$$ ...

Oh well , I haven't got time to rant and rave Good luck with yours .

My lights dont show at all unless they are lit ... are yours the same as in the catalog ? did you do it yourself ? does yours light the step or the ground ?

My light are driving lights and they shine on the steps
and the ground.

 

Looks great! Wish I could do that now, but since i'm "between jobs" right now I've got to pinch pennies. So, until I can afford a good system, I duct tape a couple of those ChemLites under my rockers. Then when it's dark, I just kick one. Lasts a couple hours. Boy...That green shure is kewl.

I don't have step lights, but wish I did. For now, I just let everybody trip and bust their *** in the dark.

 

Well I got pulled over the other night on the way to the beach , I thought oh no there goes my insurance! Anyway I pull off into a parking lot on this deserted streach of road turned on my interior light put my hands in full view , the patrolman came to the window asked for my lic.& reg. , I told him I also carray a concealed weapon ... he asked where it was (in my holster on me)... looked at the interior of the truck ... asked where I was headed ... checked the experation date on my permit ... told me to keep my speed down to the legal limit and let me go !!! First time I've ever gotten a warning ... he told me I did everything right (turn on the light, put my hands in full view, tell him up front about the weapon) then he talked to me for 5 or 10 minutes about the cool lights under the truck ! I had fogotten all about them at the time . he said he has a F-150 Scab ... I told him to check out this site , lots of good info !
