2001,or wait for 2002 King Ranch?
I have a 99 supercab 4x4, off road pkg., 28,000 mi. in very good condition. Yesterday went to local dealer and am considering trading for a loaded 2001 King Ranch. Truck has all options including off road pkg. and soft King Ranch snapless cover, MSRP around 38,000+, and have 2 to choose from - green and blue. The deal we worked out was they will sell it at X plan price and give around $18,000 for my truck, leaves me about $16,000 balance with 3 years,0% financing. I did want to wait for a 2002 for bench seat, climate control, and maybe chestnut color unless this is a great deal. Any opinions. Thanks.
I really think you have to look at what you really want. If your straped for cash then buying now will save you money, no question about it. But if you don't like the color or the seat options, then wait for the 2002.
I really liked the 2001 and there was not much diffrence between the XLT 2001 and XLT 2002. So financially it was a no brainer for me.
You will spend more money on the 2002, how much more, I don't know?
If your really happy with everything on the 2001, including color, options, seats, etc. Then get it, or wait for some more options and the chance to even custom order exactly what you want.

No brainer here either. I went to the dealer to just look to see what they had with all the great financing they are doing now. I was surprised to see a 2002 on the lot. I am looking for a Lariat and the 2002 features over the 2001 that I want are the electronic climate control and the new wheels. Besides with x plan the diference is only about $1300 and I will pay that to get a better resale in the future. It's all about what you want, and what you can afford. I guess I am not much help here, huh?
my $.02.
my $.02.
To me it all came down to the rear seat.
I was ready to order a 2002 equipped exactly like I wanted....and then I found a loaded '01. I was using x-plan but there was no promises that the 2250 total rebates would stiill be around when the 2002 came in.
the automatic climate control didn't excite me because the one in my wife's Olds Intregue just annoys me...it never chooses the fan speed I would choose. Ford's may be better, but I decided I could easily live with the manual deal.
Didn't know the wheels were different, are they?
Anyhow it all came down to the bench seat. Personally I have just one child (15 years old today) and it is mostly my personal vehicle. Four seats are just right for golf trips with the guys. I thought the rear console (which is huge) would be more useful to me than another seat. the only drawback to the buckets for me was that with them folded down you don't have a flat surface because the console is higher than the folded seat.....not ideal but you can't have it all right?
So, some things for you to consider....hope it helps.

You might catch me lyin', but I don't think so. If we could see the '02s on ford.com we would know for sure. The dealers sure don't know

Guys,
Sorry guys, I know first hand you can't get KRs with FX4. I tried to order it in the Ford computer sytstem at my local Ford store a couple of weeks ago and the FX4 and LT tires both were kicked out of the order. The bench rear seat went through fine eventhough Ford states late availability on that option.
Also, if you comb through the '02 model and trim availability on the link in the '02 specifications I posted a couple of days ago, it says it in there too.
What the he//, here's the link, I'll save you the trouble of finding it:
http://home.sc.rr.com/davemanspage/2002F150.PDF
Also, the KR wheels for '02 are still painted 10 spokers, no change there but definite 5 spokers for the FX4s.
Hope this helps and doesn't disappoint.
