S-crew order - how long before delivery?

fellow s-crewers,

i just got back from my local dealership. guess what! in a fairly short amount of time, i'll be the proud owner of a 4x4 charcoal blue/beige king ranch. we came to a reasonable settlement on a trade in of my 01 4x4 xlt s-crew. my new king ranch s-crew will have the rear bench instead of captains chairs, tow package and limited slip, in addition to the tons of standard equipment.

i do have a question for those of you who have ordered s-crews in the past. how long did it take for you to get your truck? thanks for any info you can provide...

Yo Troy,
It sucks when no one replies doesn't it? Anyway, I have not yet ordered my '02 screw but will be no more than a couple of weeks. Just waiting for Ford to do thier official release even though I can order it now. I want to see exactly what I will get before I order anything.

Also, my present '00 4x4 Lariat Scab was oreded in Late September of '99 and I received the unit around 8 weeks later, just in time for Thanksgiving to show it off. Did not hear much of anything for about six weeks and the all of a sudden the information started to come out of the wood work so to speak. The delivery was pushed back one time for a couple of days and there was a delivery delay of a couple more due to something with a railroad problem. Other than that info I can only feel your pain as I hate to wait for something that long myself.

Get a bear or six and just relax, it won't get to the dealer any sooner by worrying. I found that it was just way better for me to just completely forget about it and then it's just like winning the lottery, getting a Christmas present or something when the dealer calls. Also, bet your A$$ the dealer calls you right away because they want to part with that sucker quick because you are not obligated to buy it until you sign on the proverbial dotted line. Let us know when you get it and maybe post a picture or you and the new screw as a reply to this post.

hey daveman,

you can go to www.kbb.com and price/build an '02 supercrew. the site is pretty accurate. it gives you both invoice and retail pricing. i built the exact s-crew i planned to order and took a printout to the dealership with me. after the salesman and sales manager saw the printout, they checked the pricing and it was within a hundred dollars of what they got. i had a trade which muddies up matters a bit. but from what i could tell, the sales manager would have sold me the new '02 straight out for very near invoice if not invoice. ciao!

Troy,
Thanks for the link. I guess I am fairly lucky that once in my life I have family that works at my Ford dealer. He is the GSM and so I get the family discount and just yesterday we keyed in a couple two three scenarios to find out what options it would spit out and to see if the bench back seat is really optional now. We found out that you cannot order the ORP with the KR. Other than that, I have several printouts of exactly what I wanted but my "Burlaw" Bother-in-Law told me the official release to the public is a couple of weeks away and that detailed pictures or a photo gallery of possible configurations will not be accessible until then. Unless someone else knows how to see built-up '02 photos I will just wait. Besides, I still am trying to get to the bottom of the seat issues I posted on other threads. I heard that the '02 were to have some sort of upgrade on the seats and I know nothing about the details on that so again I will wait. Besides, the '00 4x4 Lariat I have now rides like a Lincoln and has had zero problems and she does every think I ask her to do. Boy that could be mis-interpreted don't you think. Anyway, I need to let her down slowly.
Talk to you soon.

I feel your pain. I ordered my 2002 Scew on 7/17/01 and was told I would be given a tentative build date on 8/10/01. I still don't have a build/delivery date though they have said that my truck has been "picked up", whatever that means. The dealer says he checks every day and will call when he gets something. He's telling me not to expect it until the middle of October.

TROY K

I have ordered several Ford trucks through the years and 8-12 weeks is pretty much what they will tell you. I have had one delivered in as little as 4 weeks and have gone up to 12 on others. My current one was ordered in June (production started in late July) it was delivered late in October. So it is kind of a "crap shoot" I think it may depend on how many orders they have for that particular model, KR, SPORT Etc. and they may batch them. Also depends on parts availability, if there is something unique about a particular truck that could delay it. My SPORT was delayed because the did not have the seats ("Unique SPORT cloth design"). I am waiting on a 2002 F-250 CC that was built on 20 August, ETA is second week in Sept.
Goodf Luck with your new truck, hope it gets there soon for you.

Cool

I ordered my 2002 SCrew on August 1st and the build date is 09/17. They said another week or two for delivery. Their original estimate was 6 to 8 weeks. Pretty much hit it on the mark!

Trading in a 2001 XLT Screw for another one??? OKAY!

Just go to the next large city in your state and drive it home today! Come to Texas for that matter. The are more new Screws on lots than you can shake a stick at. You shouldn't have to order one.

well, have't seen any '02s on dealer lots yet. plus am going to a king ranch from an xlt. king ranches are hard to find up here in the north. they made some changes on the '02s that i like - rear bench on the kr as well as auto climate control, etc. there are quite a few '01 lariats and xlts up here too, just don't want one!

I ordered a 2002 True Blue SCrew on August 23rd. I checked today (Aug. 30th)and was told I might find out an estimated build date tommorrow or next friday. I was initially told that early November would be a reasonable expectation, which should give me plenty of time to have some accessories planned out.

I have purchased (3) trucks from the same dealer. 1991, 1997
2001, They gave me uptodate info. each week. they called when the motor was installed, when the seats, etc, etc. was told the day the bad boy was painted.
They called me when it was loaded on a truck in Norfolk headed for Newnan, Ga. You can't beat that kind of service. The longest I had to wait for either one was eight weeks. And to be honest.
"worth the wait" love my truck!!!

TroyK,

If you do not mind me asking, what percentage of the MSRP did you lose on your trade? The reason I am asking is, I just picked up a 2001 SuperCrew 4x4 Lariat 3 weeks ago. But, I plan on ordering a 2003 when it becomes available. I can find no information on the value of our trucks as of yet.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Frank T. Lee

frank,

that was one of the issues i had going into the deal, i had no real idea what my truck was worth. i basically added 2k over a similarly equipped xlt supercab. which brought my truck to near 25k (msrp was 33k). i know, a pretty big hit! however, they are selling brand new '01s for only 1-2 grand over 25k. anyway, was able to get my dealership to trade on a new kr order for 7500. maybe not the greatest...but not too bad either considering the kr msrp is over 3k more than my xlt was...
