questions about stereo systems...(boxes, subs, etc.)

have any of you purchased this box, or an equivalent? what subs did you use? my fiance is telling me i would need a "free air" sub...

i don't know anything about this stuff, anyone who could give me some advice, i'd really appreciate it!

I bought a subbox.net unit for my Supercrew about a month ago. It's well made and I suggest paying the extra $30 or so to have it carpeted to match your interior as it is much cheaper than if you take it somewhere to have it done. You have to get a sub that is specifically made for small enclosures and have a mounting depth of 5" or less. I had a JL 10W3 but it was too deep, so I bought an Alumapro Alchemy 10". The JL 10W6 would also fit as would a # of others. I think the subbox.net product is a very cost-effective way of getting more bass in our trucks, granted that you have an amp to drive it...

hey caren,

I was wondering if you can still fold down your seats after installing the box? And, where did you install your amp, because I am very interested in putting a sub in my screw.

thanks

I'll bet he put the amp in one of the compartments behind the rear seat considering that is where the factory 6 disc cd changer is located.

I'm a she first off. and I haven't put anything in yet, I only was asking about it. You can view how the box looks on www.subbox.net...click on "ford" and then view the one specially designed for the s-crew.

The factory 6 disc cd changer is where???

Hey Caren,
How much does one of the subs you are considering cost and at what wattage? I am in the screw market, and may want to do this mod to after I take a dive off the bridge of debt and order it. Oh, and that's head first.
See Ya later

P.S.
Hey Thefoyboy,
I just drove an '01 KR 4x4 and the factory cd changer was in the front center console. Why would the cd changer be located in such an inaccessible location as behind the rear seat??? Are you sure about your statement Thefoyboy or did I just misunderstand what you replied to Caren.

First,

To Caren my apologies....while at times I can be a cad and most of the time view this as a male past time it is good to make your acquaintance.

Second, Dave, yes, I am sure about the location if you have a front bench seat. I saw it in a couple of Ford brochures and somewhere on line. They'd locate the six pack in that compartment right behind the passenger side rear seat. Besides, accessibility quickly isn't normally an issue with six packs considering many vehicles today have them in the trunk.
