Any one have a Truck Tec tonneau cover?

I found this cover on a site for sale at $136.00. I would appreciate any comments either good or bad on this brand of cover.

Thanks!

kkirt1,

I have a truck tec cover on my Supercrew. I purchased it just for short trips to protect luggage and such. After I installed it (takes about 5 minutes) I decided I liked the looks enough to leave it on the truck. The fit is perfect and it does give you a little bit more security...keeps the honest crooks out of the bed!!!

Question what's the site?

I'd like to find out what the site is that you found the tonneau at. I'm in the market for a tonneau, as I'll be moving from Chicago to Dallas sometime soon.

Thanks.

I'd say check out Pace Edwards roll top cover that is lockable.

Thanks for the info smlcrew. How does it look? Does it follow the contour of the bed?

Pics would be great if you had them.

Take care!

Sorry about the delay! The tonneau was listed on Ebay. I got it for $136.50 + shipping. I haven't received it yet but will post opinion and pics as soon as I do. Take care!

here is a pic of the trucktec on my truck. Hope it works, I've been trying to get a good picture of how it fits, but the weather hasn't cooperated.
but...We need the rain more than we need the pic.
kirk, make sure you use the long bolts on the clamps...

just an interesting note: I had a truck knock my drivers side mirror off, chipped the windows in both doors(and paint). but the window on the back door lists for $1600, ACME's price to Allstate was $1200. So protect those rear door windows!!!

Got a pic with it off to see how it mounts??

Do you have to drill holes to install it??

It said it was a drill-free installation.

I plan on converting it to open like a hard cover with gas struts and all. The ones I had seen that did this were over $300. I think I can get it done for $200.

smlcrew,

Nice picture of the Tec Cover, looks great with the red truck. I have the Ford Soft cover and it is almost identical to that one.
But you are right, it does only keep out the honest crooks.

I wanted to know what it looked like when its off.
What the rails look like. Its got to look good when its off because I won't always have it on.

Mark_911 ,

Here's a pic of the rails and how they mount.
I don't think it looks bad with just the rails.
It only takes a few minutes to unscrew the four J-clamps, and remove the whole thing.
The corner pieces adjust, so as the weather changes you can take up the slack. I'm no expert but the tarp seems to be well made.
The only problem I had is there is a foam weatherstrip between the rail and the front of the bed, the weather strip really needs to be a little thicker.

later

One more question.

Does it float and 'pillow' on the highway ?
