Could someone check this for me?
Could someone check this for me?
Could someone do this for me?
1. Get in truck.
2. secure drivers seat belt
3. start engine
4. Drive truck (optional)
4. shut off the engine
5. remove the key from the ignition
6. remove seat belt
7. open the door.
Does the chime go off?
If so, why?
Reason I'm asking is in my truck the chime goes off and I'd like to know why. No lights are on, key is not in the ignition, what is it chiming about?
I'm planning on hunting with this truck and there are times when you just don't want a chime going off. Plus I'm afraid sometime when I do leave the lights on or the key in the ignition I'll end up locking the keys inside.
TIA.

Hi bbauman, the chime itself may help tell you where the problem is. Although the chime sounds like the same 'ding' they are actually 'timed' for different items.
"ding.........ding.........ding.........ding" = seat belt not fastoned.
"ding.....ding.....ding.....ding" = door ajar
"ding,ding,ding,ding" = headlights on
If two conditions are present, I don't know which has priority.
Anyway, try to determine how fast or slow the bogus chime is compared to the legitimate chimes you can create using the three events listed above.
Oops, forgot one, "key in ignition" sounds about the same pulse rate as "door ajar".
Can anyone tell if "key in ignition" is a little faster than "door ajar"? Heavy drinking has left me tone deaf and robbed me of my rhythm.

Thanks for the info Raoul!
Did some testing and couldn't get a Door Ajar chime, was more like a beep.
I think the chime I'm getting is a key in ignition chime. Its pretty close anyways, maybe slightly slower. Will have to take it to the dealer and have them fix it.
Thanks again.
