Talking Got my LSII with Wing, pics

Had it installed by the dealer thinking they would do a good job. Ended up having to pretty much re-install it myself. They had it on a little crooked (at least a half-inch) and it didn't cover the bedrails all the way. The quality is good and the construction seems very solid. Check it out and let me know what ya'll think.

Very nice!

Do these lids install over existing bedrail caps?

I have a Charcoal Blue/Beige two tone. My bed rails are beige. I was wondering what color of lid I should get?

It installs over the existing bed rail caps. The frame of the cover sits on top of them and is installed with clamps. If you adjust the cover right, it will cover all but about a 1/4 inch of the caps(the caps are hardly noticable). As far as color goes, get what you like. IMHO, I would probably match the rail caps.

Thanks Scooby! Hopefully I'll have the power lift I'm working on by then, too.

Skully, I think I win the prize for highest price paid for a LSII with the wing. LOL! The whole setup was $1177 installed. I think the wing was about $300. I started out as a lineworker about 15 years ago, did overhead and U.G. distribution work for about 7 years, and got into electronics from there. I work in the electronics department doing SCADA, communications (radio, phone, and fiber), repair, and install work for a co-op in Georgia.

Rob,

Your LS2 and wing look great! Am I understanding you right when you say "I had to re-install it"? If the morons put it on crooked, that sounds like re-drilling job to me. I WOULD HAVE COME COMPLETELY UN-GLUED! I will be getting my LS2 this weekend. Been on order for 4 weeks. Kinda impatient at this juncture. I put the "BedRug" in last weekend (love it) and it has been getting soaked. Thought I would have had the bed cap by then.

Have you been enjoying your lid? Your truck is looking good.

I did some searching around before and they run about $1000, give or take a couple hundred (more like give). Installation is usually included in the price. Too rich for my blood right now but they reportedly help out quite a bit with gas mileage.

Bedrugs are around $500, give or take, too from my prior search.

Reid, The lid is great! My LSII is clamped on with 4 clamps. Not too much trouble to remove if you have some help. You are right, I would have come unglued if I had to drill some extra holes in my bed! The "crookedness" was not very apparent on first inspection. I noticed after a couple days that the cover was rubbing the bed rail cap on the corner next to the tailgate. I then started measuring the clearances all the way around and noticed that the front edge was off (you can gauge it by comparing it with the rear window). I suggest that if you get any cover installed, look very carefully around the edges before you accept it.

chaean, I have picked up about 1 MPG with my cover around town. Don't know about the highway, but I bet it will be 2-3 MPG! An added benefit I think.

There is an ARE dealer up in MA I just talked to. Can get the LSII for $686 installed and then with the $20 coupon it is only, AAH!, sign of the beast price of $666.

Wing can be added for another $250.

Great, now I am going to end up paying $250 to restock the Pace Edwards roll top and go with this. I ought to have my head examined, but the price and look and use are just too good.

My ARE LSII covers the bed caps completely. If yours doesn't, it's adjusted wrong. There are 4 feet that can be screwed down to completely cover the cap but not touch the pain. This is on a Screw midn you. Check the sig.

I just did the math, and a couple of miles per gallon improvement over 6500 miles (which I have) can save you over $100 ($104.46), assuming price of regular gas is $1.35 (which seems the average for ATL, GA. I know it can be much higher elsewhere) and 12 MPG before (me again) and 14 MPG after. This is over span of 3 and a half months... Anyway, before your warranty runs out (36000 miles) the cover could have more than half paid for itself! ($578.57)

(never mind me, folks. it's just the sound of me trying to convince myself to plunk down a G for the cover and the wing. )
