If you are referring to the bed extender, it can be removed VERY easily with the tailgate up and locked. There are a few topics discussing various ways to secure the extender. Do a search. I chose to try the lock option suggested on the boards. Works great. Photos posted in my album "bed extender lock" in the galleries on this site if you are interested.
