Overdrive Blues
I recently bought a 97 with auto tranny
for a work truck the overdrive on/off switch on column does nothing. The button has no resistance. I have a small trailer to pull 4-wheelers. Any info would be very much appreciated.

The owners manual also says I can shift into 4x4 going 60mph. I'm pretty sure my front end would explode. It sounds bad only going about 10mph. They probably just say to use overdrive when you tow every time because it will put less stress on your transmision if you use it with really heavy loads
Dingo,
Did you check the fuses. Mine stopped working on my 2002 (the auto headlights and the seatbelt chimes are also on that fuse). I checked and it was the 4amp fuse. Put a new one in and it blew again in a day or two. Turned out to be a bare wire in the steering column running from the shifter stalk working the overdrive.
