A buddy from work is thinking of buying a '01 4x2 4.6 SC XLT. I told him I would ask around for any info I could find on the board. Any major problems out there? Anything to watch out or look for before buying?

 

4R70 transmission and door cracks. I understand the verdict is still out as to whether they fixed the crack problem on the 01's or not. Lot's of people seem to be bit$^ing about the 4r70. I have the 4r100 so can't speek from personal experience on that one. Otherwise, great truck.

 

The screws do not have the door crack problem because they do not have the sail panel where the cracks occur. The doors are similar to the expedition doors.

I love my Screw, no complaints at all.

 

Best piece of advice is don't listen to everything that is said on this board...all boards for that matter. Be selective in what you hear and what you are told...all it takes is one bad apple to start a rumor as you now.

Keep an open mind but not all comments are good comments......that's just my opinion!
