I lost the spring to my indash ashtray/cupholder now i have to pry it open. found the spring in dash. Looks like it may have been mounted on two plastic pins on the back of tray. So how do you get tray out to replace spring

 

I think the stop is on the top. Push it part way closed then slide something flat in there and it should pull tight out. If I remember right.

 

you can reach up from the bottom and release the lock by hand, and yes its on the top center part.

most people use really short self tapping screws to put the spring back on

 

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about using small pop rivets. But I've got some small self tapping screws also.
