ashtray/cup holder removal

My indash ashtray /cup holder on my 01 150 has lost the spring to push it out. I pried it open and found spring in dash. my question is does anyone know how to remove the sliding tray so i can replace the spring. Looks like it may have been on two plastic pins on the back of tray.

Yeah, I've had the same issue too, so hopefully someone chimes in so we can fix it properly without breaking any plastic parts.

there is a lock in the center of the top of it, you can either wedge something from the top side in there, like a screw driver, or reach up behind it with a finger and pull the lock tab down.

if you can retrieve the spring from the dash, you can put it back on using very short self tapping screws

I know it's alittle late, but the small plastic rivits if that what you call them broke on mine. So i just drilled two pilot holes and use some self tapping screws and bingo it's working again like Patman03SprCrw said !!
