NEED HELP... gotta 08 f150 5.4 flex.The check charging system warning came on but i had to drive home about 15 miles,then ABS light came on,then i heard a clank noise come from under hood or someplace around front end .all dash lights went out and gauges all dropped then she died.got a jump went 1 mile died again.got 60k on her so no more warranty,wanna try to narrow problem down. Thanks for any suggestions

 

I'd rule out any issues with the battery by putting a charge on it and making sure it's capable of holding a charge. If that checks out, then it's probably the alternator. These trucks do some really weird stuff with low voltage. If you're alternator when out, it likely drained the battery to the point it could no longer keep up. But I've also had one battery just short out. With a good charge on the battery you should be able to see how much voltage the alternator is putting out. If it's under 14 volts at the battery with the engine running, it's probably toast.
