towing with a lowered truck

i am thinking of lowering the rear of my supercrew to kind of level it out some since i think the front springs are sagged a little. i am starting with just shackles, will they affect my driveline angles or tow capacity?

I pull a 20 ft car hauler every now and the and I'm dropped 4.5-6". I use a air ride hitch with equalizer bars works wonders.

Funny you should post this because I was wondering the same thing. From the factory, my little truck is higher in the rear than in the front which looks a little dorky because of all the space between the rear tires and the body above. I had thought of lowering it to level the truck and getting airbags to keep the rear from sagging when I put a serious load on it (haven't yet but it's only a matter of time).

I don't want to raise the front to level it (then both ends would look dorky, can't have my little baby looking dorky) and I don't want to bigger rims/tires on it since that would kill my towing capacity (the tow rating is why I bought it in the first place).

Is what I want to do a good idea and if so, what would be the easiest/best way to lower the rear?

Best easiest way to lower the rear is to put 2" drop shackles.

youll be good. what kills the towing ability for lowered trucks is when people throw bigger heavier rims on and tires that arnt rated for the load.

Harley wheels

I just went out to look at my 08 H.D. wheels since there still sitting in the garage . The load capacity isn't stamped into them. But they sure are beautiful.

Towing

I dont tow often, but when I do its this boat or my Kawasaki 15f PWC. So there isnt much weight to be concerned about. The boat is a 19.5 ft. bowrider with a 350 ci. engine. Fully loaded with fuel the boat and trailer only dropped the rear of my truck 1/8 of an inch. I have the Roush suspension with nightmare drop shackles . so its about a 2/4.5 drop.

I have a 00 Supercrew lowered with a 3/5 belltech and firestone airbags since new. I tow a open racecar trailer with lots of spares and fully loaded bed. I've had absolutely no problems however I wouldn't do it without airbags.

i think it depends on how low you go, my 2000 ranger is lowered 5 inches in the rear and if i haul anything over like 350-400 lbs ill hit my bump stops
