Dealer finnaly got my L-tails in. I paid $98 out-the-door for the tailights. I had to wait about 2.5 weeks for the passenger side. The dealer told me (in a heavy Foxworthy southern drawl "these parts are on emergency allocation, 'cause all y'all are puttin' 'em on yer trucks. Ain't no way this many Lightnin's are wrecked and needin' tail lights" - HA! All that with a stern look before he went in the back to get my stuff. Then the other parts dude smiles and says "good thing you got 'em before the price went up. I just got my Dad some Lightning heads and corners for Father's day - he can't use the tails 'cause his truck ain't a screw or flair side".

I put 'em on tonight. I could not wait for tomorrow to go buy washers, so I cut a good 3/8" off each screw with a hacksaw, and tapered the ends with a grinding stone on my moto-tool. They looked almost factory when done, and went in perfect with an 8mm socket wrench and extension. I also RTV'd in some thin PVC sheet material to cover the holes in the body where the mud gets in. I left a little air opening for bulb heat.

My next mod is an exhaust mod: I have decided to install the Flowmaster y-pipe ($38 from Jegs) and a 3" SISO Ravin Z55 muffler, with a 3" pipe to the stock location and a stainless steel slash tip. I'll have Midas do the work.

After that I'm putting on Rancho RSX shocks.... Oh yeah, gotta get the front windows tinted before the show an' tell at the Varsity...

I got mine where I bought the truck - Billy Howell Ford in Cumming. They had to order them, but gave me the old price. Someone here said a few weeks ago that a Mayretta Ford dealer had 'em in stock - sorry I can't remember which one.

I like the Lightnin' tails so much I think I may get the heads and corners, too!

 

When's the "meet".....at the real Varsity @ North Avenue Trade School or the fake one on Jimmy Carter?

If you get the heads...please be careful. I am probably the only one to do it but when I put them in I let them rest on the painted grill surround and I scratched it, twice under each light. I didnt realize it. Should have taped it off. Just be careful.
