Post Too late to order a 2001?

Has anyone heard from a dealer the cutoff for ordering a 2001 Screw? I posed the question to a dealer and haven't gotten an answer yet. Was going to wait for 2002 but figure I'd be better off getting incentives now.

Thanks for the info. I figured that's what I'll hear from the dealer but wanted to hear from others. Maybe he has what I want on the lot or can locate...

1stnuford - Good point - I was actually waiting to get a 2002. But figured I would investigate rebates & incentives as they try to get 2001's out the door... $500, $1k, etc... could be worth it since there's not much change in the truck in 2002.

newtruckforray,

I've got the same problem as you. I went to a dealer ready to order a 2001 and found the cutoff was May 15th.

If I find a 2001 with the options I want and a color I like, I may buy it. According to the dealers I've talked to in NC, Ford is offering $500 and 6.9% interest (60 months), or $1000 and get someone else to finance you. Seems there's not much of a surplus of screws so Ford won't be offering any huge incentives to move them.

I don't know what kind of interest rate we'll be able to get for a 2002, but I'd expect you should be able to get close to the current offerings for a 2001.

Also, FYI, I'm told orders for 2002 start July 15th.

Good luck!

I placed my order on 2001 SuperCrew on June 8. A few days later, dealer called and said factory had rejected the order because they had already shut down and were re-tooling for the 2002's.

Fortunately, the dealer "found" (about 100 miles away) the exact truck I wanted except for the interior color. That wasn't critical so I'm picking it up tonight!

So, assuming my dealer was straight with me, sounds like it's too late to order.

Would it make a diff ? Other than the delvery date and a slight $ increase, I would order an '02.

I found out the same thing last week. And I work at the Ford dealer.I went up to order a new Screw. Found out I couldn't, So I went out on the lot to walk around. Found one I liked so I called the wife down there. She found one she liked. Guess what it was an 01 F-250 super duty Crew Cab Short bed 4x4 off road 5.4 4:10LS XLT. So we bought it. I didn't want to order an 02 and get it in aug. of 01. It would have 2 yrs of miles on it by the time it was considered 1 yr old. That hurts bad on trade in. And Being a Ford technician, I see less problems with super duties than with F-150s. Truck is now a week old and I (we) love it!!
