Center Console & Pinstriping change
Has anyone put an Expy console in the SC yet, and if so what year Expy was it from? I like the way they go all the way to the dash and have heard of this mod before. Also, can
the standard Larait pnstripes be changed to a
different color without damaging the paint? I
ordered black/tan two tone and don't care for
the red stripes, but I've seen tan stripes on
Lariat SC's that look good, IMHO. Can this be ordered from the dealer? Thanks

I know that the striping can be changed, although I have never done it. I know that it is not under any clearcoat. But, the new stripes will definitely be expensive. When I got new stripes for my Ranger, they were $75... I can only imagine that they would be more for an f-150.

I have to agree that the capt's chairs and console leave a lot of wasted space. I love to find a console that used that unneeded legroom. Anyone put an Expy console in yet? how about w/CD changer in there?
The truck is so great, it is really down to the little stuff now.

I removed the pinstripes off of my Black Lariat. You cannot tell that the truck ever had stripes. I feel like it gives my truck a much cleaner appearance.

Tim56Ford,
Curious, how did you remove the pinstripes? Will the same process work for removing emblems (F150 Badges)?

I hear ya', I thought the same thing. BUT, I'm sure in your visit to, what, 29 now, dealers??
, that you noticed how the emblem on the tailgate is recessed. Unless you have another emblem in mind it may look odd removed. Hell, you are stilol waiting like I am, but have the thing rebadged, repainted and lifted!!!!!

Pretty creative that FORD recessed it's badge. Actually, I was driving down the road and saw a T100 (which my wife has, yet I am driving till the Crew comes) with all the "stick-ons" removed. Clean look.
I'd like to leave the tailgate FORD emblem in place, however, remove the F150 SuperCrew badge on the rear and the F150 Triton V-8 badges on the fenders.

Trending Topics
about the badges, they all have pins behind them with clips to hold them in place. if removed the holes would have to be filled and the body panels repainted. I did some research on the topic for my 98 f-150 and also my 2001 super crew, they both have the same syle badges. "we don't need no stinking badges" hope this helps......
As far as removing the pinstripes... I took my wife's hair dryer out and turned it on low just enough to warm the surface and I started pulling on ne end and kept the heat just in front of where I was pulling. It didn't take 5 minutes for both sides. I did take the stripes off the first week.
As far as the emblems ... I noticed that Ford wants you to keep that one on the tailgate. I was hoping to get the F150s off with dental floss and heat ... but I guess that is going to be a problem if they actually have pins.

I too have a blac and Silver 01 S'crew that came with Red stripes. I had the dealer remove them and put on silver and blue stripes to match my boat. I watched the guy do it. He just pulled them off, cleaned the paint, and installed the new ones. Below is a picture. I can get a closeup and send it if you would like. I think it looks much better than the red and gold stripes, AND it matches my boat!! Am I **** or what!! :-)

I put a 2000 expy console in when I first got the truck. I don't use the armrests, I keep them in the upright position, and the seats all the way back. For those of you who want to use your armrests you need a 98 or 99 year console, it's narrower. I got it from LWM ent, (405)360-7998 in norman,ok for$90 plus $20 shipping. They're used but clean up nicely. This was posted by 97customXLT along time ago.goodluck

For those of you removing any badges, I used 40-lb test fishing line. Worked like a champ. I used gloves and held it like I do dental floss. I got under one edge and "sawed" my way toward the center, first going around the outer edges and working my way in. The pins are easy to feel. Just go around them. After sawing for just a couple minutes, that emblem just about dropped off! Then i just used my fingers to get the big bits of tape off the gate, and cleaned up with some Goo-Gone and windex. It was a piece of cake, and nary a scratch.

My experience with LMW Enterprises:
I called up one Friday afternoon wanting to get some more information on their center consoles. The lady that answered knew little about the condtion of the consoles but said they were about a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being new condition. I told her that I wanted something a little better then a 6 to put in my brand new truck. She said she had a few 8's left but they were $20 more. I said cool! The total was $125 + $25 for shipping.
When I received the box from LMW I hurriedly opened it. I had heard the horror stories about the condition they were in so I didn't expect much. Everyone had said they cleaned up pretty good.
Well, to shorten the story a little, this console was a big piece of ****! It had a pretty serious indention on the top of the console and the back of it looked like it had baked in the sun for a few years and in no way matched the color of the rest of the console. There was no cleaning this console, although I tried for two-hours.
Upon calling LMW, and to their credit, they offered to refund my money if I shipped the console back to them - less the $25 shipping and handling.
Buyer beware!
