Post Rear Door Locks?

Has anyone figured out a way to allow the locks on the rear doors to unlock when the handle is pulled? Like the front doors? I have had lots of complaints from passengers and am tired of hearing about it. I want the door to open from the inside with it locked or unlocked?

Question

The rear doors do not do this for Child proofing reasons. Some consumer protection group years ago decided to protect our children for us. Now the rear windows don't roll down all the way and the doors dont unlock. It was probably spurred on by some parents that were not paying attention and had a child roll out onto the pavement. There may be a way to make it work though. Maybe someone could compare the front mechanism to the rear one and find the lever or cam responsible. Anyone???? I will look when I swap my speakers. If anyone has this info please post it.

I did a search and couldn't find the answer, I guess I will be tearing the door apart this weekend. I will post the fix. (PS. I also don't want any children falling out on their head, but since I don't have any, and there are child proof lock switches, whats the deal?)

Hi Guys,

I'm pretty sure you can flip the lever up or down on the middle part of the door, to allow passengers to exit without you having to unlock the door.

Same problem at lunch today. It is not the child proof switch. It is the auto door locking set up. When you kill the engine both front door only will open with the handle unless you hit the unlock switch. If you do not, the rear passenger must pull up on the door lock button so that the handle will work. If the child proof switch is on, the passenger cannot open the door at all, even after pulling up the button.

One option is turning off the auto locking system. See owners manual on how to do.

No the lever on the side of the door prevents the door from opening whether it is locked or unlocked.
